Don't Understand

I know that we need to get recruits to commit as soon as they can, but why is it that so far all the recruiting stories are about the 2008 and 2009 class. How about next season? I may be missing something but everyone is talking about Patterson and Lucas, are they the only two guys we are trying to get for next year.

Of all the recruits that are left on the board that can play at UK's level and still left undecided, those two are the only ones left. They are also the only recruits (not committed elsewhere) that we know of that are being pursued by the current coaching staff. Pettigrew is iffy since we just learned that Billy G. left E-town without offering him a ride (said he needed to evaluate further).

There are other possiblities that we may not know about like JUCOs. Of course there is the possibilty of landing a recruit who signed a LOI elsewhere (D. Jordan for example).

Billy G moves very, very quickly and unlike the previous coaching staff he wastes no time recruiting studs as soon as they break the national scene (Willie Warren, Shawn Williams, etc.). Secondly, he knows Texas like the back of his hand when it come to HS. So he has the upper hand in this department among coaches not in the state of Texas. Also, Texas is producing the best talent it has seen in over a decade.

I think the McClain kid could be a great pickup if Jordan/Patterson doesn't pan out........

One has to remember that Billy G. is a Texas High School basketball coach at heart. He has contacts upon contacts in that state.

Well it seems like we have finally caught up to the rest of the programs in the nation who have been done with 2007 for awhile now. One of the most frustrating things with Tubby is that he seemed to be recruiting a year behind everyone else.

From what I've read about him and the way he goes.......I'd say about 10 days...:D
