If we get a no from all three, do you think Coach holds 3 open till next year? There really hasn't been that many names other than these and Pettigrew being thrown about.

Probably some surprises coming.

At this most anything woud be surprise. :P
It is possible but unlikely. I think we may get a JUCO Forward/center. I think this is why we haven't offered Pettigrew. It would make the most sense. It would give immediate help plus it helps with the scholly distribution since we currently have no JRs. I have no clue who is available from the JUCO route and there may not be anyone worthy of an offer, but it would make a lot of sense if there is someone who could contribute right away.

I doubt it.
We need bigbodies. Even if a kid can't give much during games, he can be a valuable practice player. If none of the high school kids on the radar work out, I think Gillispie will take a shot at a couple of big JUCOs.
Think about this: our frontline next year consists of Mark Coury, Perry Stevenson,Jared Carter, and Mike Williams.

That front line is a frightening prospect. Will lose a bunch of games if that doesn't change.
I think Stewart will play PF for us also, mostly due to the fact that we have no one else. He is the only other thing reselmbling a PF other than Stevenson. We are going to be tiny next year.
I would not be suprised to see Stevenson at Center with a really small lineup that presses constantly. Jasper, Meeks, Crawford, Bradley and Stevenson. We would be a terrible rebounding team but we would be fast as lightning. We would have to get up a ton of shots to compete. I really, really hope Patterson comes and that there is a JUCO that can help out there somewhere. If not we are going to have to play Pheonix Suns fast.

After watching AJ play this past Saturday, he better hit the steroids right now if he is going to play PF for UK. He not only is thin, but plays thin, getting pushed around rather easily. Let's hope that UK has other options at PF next season.

I have a better chance of playing power forward than AJ Stewart does.
The kid is a wing. Simple as that.

Regardless of the PP situation, I look for next season to be a small team unless we get PP and another JUCO or someone that I've not heard about below the radar or something. They are going to be small and fast. They probably will have to press a lot and run/spread the floor very well in order to win ballgames. The games should be exciting with this style. It would make it a lot easier if we get some size in there. WHo knows, carter could have developed his game and hit the weights alongside Stevenson and give us a solid couple of guys to get some boards and pound around downlow a little bit. Hopefully the Alaskan Assasin is ready to live up to that name as well!

I don't disagree that our frontcourt is going to be thin....
But, how much that hurts us is yet to be seen. Yes, we are going to suffer some lumps next season. However, we now have a coach who'll formulate our attack to take advantage of our stregnths- not a coach who's tied to one style and routinely sacraficed athleticsm for the sake of upperclass loyalty and devotion to the 5-spot.
If our best five is 4 guards/wings and a lithe shotblocker (Bradley, Crawford, Meeks, Stewart and Stevenson, for example), then Gillispie is going to figure out a way to maximize this lineup. If Carter or Williams aren't ready to contribute, Gillispie isn't going to force the issue.
Maybe Ramon Harris turns into a solid option at the 4? Maybe Gillispie will give Stevenson the minutes he deserves? Maybe Carter turns into a real player? Maybe we land one of the elite frosh we desparately need? I am fairly sure that the new coaching staff is going to be more successful with the pieces we have than the old one would've been. That's not a "maybe" in my book.

There is not one thing (even the maybes) in this post that I disagree with, even though I argued for Tubby for 7 1/2 of the last 8 years. Except for, I always liked what I saw out of Harris. I never did understand why he didn't get to play more. To tell the truth, I kind of expect that Crawford may be the 2 guard coming off of the bench behind Meeks and Harris getting the nod at the 3.....Maybe. ;)
