No rest for the weary...not when you're on the recruiting trail. Kentucky head coach Billy Gillispie visited the Huntington home of Patrick Patterson on Monday night, continuing to pick up where Tubby Smith left off.

Nothing new here, but another Gillespie and Patterson story.

I would give Patterson a Week and then move on if he doesnt commit by then. I would love to see Patterson at UK, but we are UK and should not be held hostage. Tubby made us the status to be held hostage when it comes to recruits, but Billy G needs to take a stand now and let everyone know we mean business.:thumbup

Well Coach G has offered PF Sanchez out of Arkansas a scholarship, so at least he is looking at all angles.

I could be wrong, but I was thinking that Sanchez is in the class of '08.
As far as "moving on" is concerned for this recruiting period, I'm not sure who else is available that would make that option attractive. I'd almost rather we save a scholarship for later classes than take a chance on a player in a last-minute desperation attempt.
Remember, we currently have zero schollies available for the class of '09, and we already have a commitment for that year. And I'm pretty sure we have another offer on the table for that class (Shawn Williams).

Sanchez could go either way, 07 or 08. He was planning on going to prep for a year and then go to college in 08 but apparently Coach G says he wants him for 07.

:thumbup Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of that.
Do you know much about Sanchez? Could he step in and provide immediate help next season?

Move on to whom? He is the best available for 07. Anyone else that is available is a backup that we can probably get when Patterson decides one way or another anyway. Of course, BG needs to take care of business and is doing so. If he deems it best to wait for Patterson and if he thinks he has a good shot to get him, then it will pay HUGE dividends to wait. We NEED some size in the post next year. As for me, I will trust BG to make the right choice for the program and if he needs to move on he likely will and if he thinks waiting for PP is best, that's ok by me too.

Do you have a link? Do you know anything about him as far as ranking, etc?

Michael Sanchez countered with 19 points and six rebounds, a lot of which came from the free throw line. He does an excellent job using his physicality to get into defenders.

I wouldnt worry about moving on to anybody if there is no one else there. I would save the scholarship and do the best with what I have this year. No sense in setting a tone now to let all recruits no that we are going to wait. We never did before the Tubby era and always had some pretty nice teams.

By the Way, we are all sitting here acting like Patterson is going to turn our program around too, hes not. He is a solid player, but there are many solid players in this Country. I have watched him for years, seen him tear guys up and seen him get tore up, so he is no Lebron James, lets all keep that in mind. I think someone needs to tell him and his mother that too.
