Hopefully this was posted already, if so then sorry... But this kid is looking at UK as an option...

He's a fine player, ranked #26 by Riseand#38 by Rivels. I believe he could help us, especially after Crawford and Bradley graduate.I sure hope Billy Clyde talks to him soon.

He is obviously a dead-eye shooter. Didn't miss a free throw after..what was it? Jan.4th? 41% from the 3 and 85% from the line. Do we have any pure shooters? Jodie maybe. We must put our trust in Billy G. to figure it all out.:wildcatface

Has an offer from us now. BCG visited him last Friday and Legion is slated to visit the campus next week.

If he commits, along with Sanchez, then that puts us at one scholarship remaining, and 2 big possible commitments looming (PP and JL)... I am starting to grow nervous.
Has Kansas, UCLA and UCONN been after Legion all along?

This is awesome news IMO. I trust Coach Clyde to make everyone fit, scholly wise and PT wise.

Those three have been after him all along but he was the one that sent out feelers to UK prior to his release from the LOI (people close to him acted on his behalf).
We could end up with him, PP and Jai OR Sanchez, PP and Jai OR.. you get the picture. Either way, this forces the other recruits to hurry up!

Legion would be a nice get- but we still need a PF and PG more. Legion is currently ranked #45 on Rivals for '07. Patterson is #15 and Lucas #42. And we do have other options at the big guard/small forward.
But like others here say- In BCG I trust.

With three open scholarships, obviously Patterson and Lucas are the top two targets. Sanchez appears to be a back-up plan to Patterson. You would think that this news about Legion means that Steffphon Pettigrew is at best a back-up plan to Legion.
But Sanchez has an offer on the table now. If he accepts before Patterson does, that throws a wrinkle into the plan. Regardless of what some fans have said, I think it would be extremely foolish to tell Patterson something to the effect of "Sign now or we'll withdraw the offer."

Legion didn't miss a FT since Jan. 4th and shoots a good clip from 3. He's also cut (6'5"/200 lbs). Sounds like Meeks and I mean that in a good way.

I think Coach is putting some pressure on the other recruits by his moves. If you commit Sanchez or Legion right away it may send that message that hey we're Kentucky, we're gonna get ours!

I agree.
Committ or you may not have a chance. UK should be sought after not the other way around. The worm has turned.

I'd love to have Legion. Talent is always nice, and he might get some good time at the 3. I don't want to give Patterson an ultimatum, from his family's obstinate (and, imo, good) behavior, saying "you have until x to decide" will just eliminate us from the competition. We can't risk letting such a good player go like that.

Lucas, Patterson, and Legion - UK would end up with one of if not the top recruiting class in '07 after looking like we might not end up with anything.
Patterson is the one that we have no plan B for. We could really use a good PF next year.
It would be a good class, but probably just a top 10 class, not top 2 or 3. No top 10 recruits make it pretty much impossible to get a top 5 class.

According to Scout, UK is the only school that he has "high interest" in.
Could he be the first 2007 commitment for Gillispie? Wouldn't that be a shocker? From out of NO WHERE!!!!

I'll gladly say welcome aboard, Mr. Legion.

I heard the WWF refused to come back to Grundy when the crowd beat them up. :)
How is that Appalachian School of Law?

Lol, that wouldn't suprise me a bit.
Its getting better every year...hopefully, it will continue to have a positive economic impact on an area that suffers financially.

"Sanchez went into his Junior year ranked higher than BOTH Patrick Patterson and Jai Lucas, but patella tendonitis forced him to sit out of basketball for six months and took him down to the 70-80 ranking that some still chart him now. Sanchez is an interesting recruit because when healthy, he projected to be one of the top players in America. However people fell off him after the injury, but got back on board when he had a great AAU performance in a spring tournament a few weeks ago." -from kentuckysportsradio.com blog
I think this guy could make a pretty good back-up plan. Ifwe sign him, Jai,and Legion we could have an excellent class IMO.

I hope CBC is going after Sanchez and Legion real hard and that their scholarship offers are not conditional to allow for Paterson's indecision.
If we wind up with Lucas, Legion andSanchez we have done very, very well.
I believe Legion is in Lexington today through Sunday. I hope they spend a little time at Keenland.

I had a hunch that he used to be rated higher than he is now (3 star) given how many major D1 schools are after him. :thumbup

That sounds like Tubby talking, let's not recruit; just wait for the recruits to come to us and rest on our history and reputation.
Thankfully, we have a coach that understands the current college game. YOU HAVE TO RECRUIT TOP TALENT TO WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS. Gillispie understands this and is willing to give the recruiting effort it takes. Yes, you have to bend over backwards sometimes recruiting the top players who usually come with big egos but that's what you have to do.
One of my own rules when I fill out my bracket every year is to never pick a team to win the championship unless they have at least two NBA lottery pick type players. This rule isn't perfect, but it holds up pretty well.

While UK's need for frontcourt players is obvious, UK also needs scorers and Alex Legion is a player whocan put points on the board immediately.

I continue to be impressed with Legion from what I've read over the past couple days. You are correct- he's a major impact player and we need him. No sense arguing who we need more- it's obvious we need more elite talent every position.
