I'd like to see them enforce that.

Unfortunatley for texting coaches, this will be one of those easily traceable things that I would not mess with. If a recruit feels spurned by one of the texters, then I would thing a red flag could be raised rather quickly.

What if the recruit has a Blackberry that recieves e-mail, and he sets his home e-mail to be delivered on the the Blackberry? That is not a text message.

EDIT... I missed the line in the article about e-mail being governed under the current guidlines. But I bet Gillispie can hammer out an e-mail on a Blackberry pretty quick. So the kids will switch to the Blackberries.

The NCAA does not understand the technology that is out today, I feel and will always be playing catch up.

I think they just need to put this in another catagory of contact, and make it subject to the same rules as Phone calls. When there is no contact there is no contact.

I agree. There are several ways to get around this, that it is almost comical. I don't think they can cast their net far enough to catch all of this within the restriction. I predict, however, that the texting restriction will happen.

Who knows... they create so many goofy technicalities that it is hard to say.

They will probably be required to reply and say, "I received your text message, but I cannot reply by text.":?;)

It's not that far fetched. We have a similar rule in our business. :nada:
