I don't believe it'll be too bad for Okoye, given his character. I think, or would like to think, the League will treat it case by case and in combination with other traits.
"[NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell] is going to be all over any team that drafts players with borderline character," an unidentified team official said, according to Pro Football Weekly.

you had me scared. Youshould have said"NFL Prospect" or "UofL graduate". Believe me, i want Okoye to succeed, but this isnt a big deal. He'll get his head screwed on straight like Randy Moss did after being drafted.

Moss was absent (and still is) character upon entering the NFL.
Okoye is nothing but character now.

Am I supposed to believe the other 6 out of the top ten players HAVEN"T tried marijuana? I think it far more likely a few of those six are lying. I think they may be the one with bad character.

I bet there are a lot more people who have tried it in the general public than anyone wants to admit. I just don't think I would admit it before I were about to be drafted.

Personally, I think the NFL ought to reward the young man's forthrightness in telling them and treat it as a non-issue. He seems to be too intelligent and has worked to hard to get where he is to let this sidetrack him. I doubt seriously that this will be an ongoing problem for him or the team that drafts him.

ya know, i understand that this is a controlled substance. but, really folks, who cares???? as long as they don't get all ricky williams on the team that drafts them. i don't see the big deal.

I tried it only once in my life. From 1972 until 1997.http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g22/cardinal_photos/12AE19122.gif

I've never tried it.
But I'm not sure why they would admit to it, especially when it could cost them millions of bucks.

not sure what this had to do with my post, but anyway, I'm sure at 16 we all did a lot of dumb things we would change now. I know none of us on here never tried pot or had a few drinks...

Instead, the NFL rewarded him by leaking confidential information. Nice way to get kids to be forthcoming in such sessions.:thumbdown
Interesting the NFL's timing with this considering the ESPN article on Okoye last week.

If the other guys are of good character as Okoye is, they'd likely not lie about it.

Since when do we associate "good character" with some one who does drugs. Maybe he only did it once. Who knows for sure.

I suppose if one knew the collective Okoye rather than this isolated slip, one wouldn't need to ask.......................

Are we really going to question the character of this kid? I have never heard anything but positive about him. He could have lied and no one would have been the wiser, that says alot about his character to me.
