Good to see Majerus get another chance at a coaching stint. Good to see he is healthy enough again.
I always enjoyed listening to his broadcasts.
Love when he says Offense :D

I will miss his candid comments on the broadcasts.

people here in St. Louis could not care less about this hire. SLU basketball falls behind, the Cards, Rams, Blues, Mizzou, SIU, Illinois, 7th grade girls soccer, 4th grade boys volleyball, and anything else sporting related.

Maybe he'll give 'em something to get excited about.
Good for Rick. He seems like a quality guy.

People at Tennessee could have cared less about hoops until Pearl got there. Maybe he'll do the same.

Good to see him back in the game. However I truly worry about his weight and lifestyle issues. I really don't want to see him die. The world is much, much more interesting with him in it.

I would imagine he is on top of that. Thats why he took the time off to get his health back in control.
But you never know.

Rick has always seemed like a Kentucky Hater to me. I don't give any type of care whatsoever where he flops at next. I have listened to him berate the Wildcats on national television so much I am just glad I won't have to see his face or hear his voice again this next year. He has had an anti-Kentucky slant in everything I have seen from him since he lost to UK repeatedly in the NCAA tournament. He is a sore loser who has used his media exposure to exact some sorry, pitiful form of revenge.

I think he will do this for 2 or 3 years, and then just kind of go away. I could be wrong.

I don't have that impression of him at all

Over/under--1 year when he quits.
Under is my vote.

College basketball's best commentator, by far. Put every thing intelligent Gottlieb, Katz, Vitale, Packer, et al., have ever said, and it's still nowhere near this guy.
The sad thing is watching him go up with other former failed coaches. It's amazing how little some of those guys (Steve Lavin?) actually know about basketball. Really gives you a sense of how far being a good cheerleader can take you.

Oh, let me explain. I do see him as an excellent broadcaster. His game analysis is very good. I think he is basically basketball throughout. I just don't like his Kentucky analysis. He only points to problems (like picking at a scab), and almost always picks UK to lose. He seems to want to paint a picture of Kentucky that is even worse than it has to be. The last time we went to the elite eight he brought up Kentucky beating Utah in the NCAAs repeatedly and said they had no chance of beating Utah this time. It seemed to me at the time he implied Kentucky had beeten his Utah teams by luck alone. That year the Cats lost a heartbreaker in double O.T. to Michigan State. Every other analyst picked Kentucky over Utah, he just wanted Kentucky to lose. IMHO he just seems to always want Kentucky to lose.

I, too, have picked up on some sour grapes from time to time with Majerus, but I don't really hold it against him. We did kick his butt a lot back in the 90's. But I've got to say, I personally hated listening to the guy call a game. He stayed two or three plays behind and couldn't pronounce names correctly. Call me stickler for details, but to me it was annoying.

The only thing that pleases me about this is the fact that I won't have to look at him anymore on T.V. as an analyst!!!! I didn't mind listening to him too much but looking at all of THAT in a sweater is about more than a girl can handle!!!!

yeah, at least you benefit. Living in St. Louis I am going to have to look at his fat butt all the time. Wonder if they are going to put him on a billboard for SLU?? That would have to be one H U G E billboard!!

I'm sure the restraunts in ST. Louis are very happy over this hire. If he is in good health he will do a good job for them. I thought he was a very good analyst for ESPN and I'm sure he will back doing that someday.
