As we are moving into our new digs here at WCN, maybe we need to take a step forward and leave the past in the past. I know some of us were big TS supporters and others were not. I supported him because he was our coach. He no longer is and what he is doing or not doing at UM matters not to me. We are entering a new era of UK basketball. I think we need to stop the bickering amongst ourselves and support BG. I would never tell people not to express their opinions. Have at it. Lets just move forward.

well-said, Dennis.

I'm up for that. Let's see if others can/will follow suit to this. Put aside the egos, bad attitudes, angry opinions, and let's just get along in this new era.

I am up for that too and fully support the mods deleting any Tubby based post for at least the next year to avoid the blue meanies having their say. :)

You go, DenCat! There have been a few, and I admit to a little guilt along those lines. I'm happy to continue down the road, and I hope and believe it will be a glory road, with Billy Gillispie.

YES, YES, YES, DenCat! Ironically, only moments ago I added that suggestion to another poster's suggestion that everyone "let Tubby go." I voted for that AND to forget the past here at WCN. It might be scary to you that our minds are thinking alike! lol

Seriously, I give you an A+ for this post, Sir. It is PERFECT, almost as PERFECT as the UK basketball coach hire itself, by the way.

I agree. I have a lot of great memories of the past 10 years. However I am ready for us to go forward as both a university and a fan base.

Dennis, here is how I wish it really worked.

I don't mind at all when someone wants to get on here and tell me what Tubby is or is not doing or what he did or did not do.

I also don't mind when someone wants to point out why they feel good about the turn of events with CBC and all the new activity.

What I do mind is all the immature back and forth and labeling and defending and cutting down that goes on. That is why I'd just as soon let the past stay in the past, as you have suggested.

You are a wise an mellow fellow.

Unfortunately, instead of this thread, another thread was on the top of the forum when I came to the site today. When I had left yesterday, after reading your thread, DenCat, I had felt I could simply look forward to coming here, reading and discussing the NEW coach whom everyone essentially seems to like and supporting HIM, all of us TOGETHER.

Well, in that thread that was on the very top today, I have just ATTEMPTED to bring folks back to the spirit within this thread that had made me SO HAPPY yesterday. I so hope it works, DenCat. Too, don't underestimate your smarts, Sir, especially in being able to express your thoughts perfectly in a SMALL number of words. KUDOS to you, still again.

There are also some other GREAT posts within this thread. Maybe some more folks will start participating in THIS THREAD and put IT up at the top of our fine site. Perhaps reading this thread first might be in the back of folks' minds as they post on threads which naturally lend themselves to some "old" discussions. Come on, WCN members, express your support for DenCat's GREAT idea. GO CATS! GO BILLY G!

Here's another novel idea. If a Smith "bashing" or mention occurs, let the thread/reply pass. That avoids the arguments that keep those "negative" comments/threads at the top of the 1st page.

HMMM.......:shrug1:

Another great idea. Do like I did. I used the "ingore" feature to place all of those SDL types out of my misery. Now I don't have to read another long winded defense of the Smith Era. Do yourself a favor.

I don't mind topics that discuss TS and I would never want to tell people to keep their opinions to themselves, that is what this board is for. TS is a part of our history at UK. Comparison's are going to be made. No problem there. It is a hot topic for some and sometimes their emotion's get the better of them. That happens to all of us.

For the record, Dave, I do exactly what you suggest. If I don't like the thread, I just by-pass it. I haven't felt the need to use the ignore feature.....yet.:icon_mrgreen:

DenCat, thanks again for the GREAT idea and the perfect wording you used in your original post. As I mentioned earlier, I wish I could say things as well in fewer words (although I have two strikes against me in gender and my past career). For the record, though, my "long-winded responses" are NOT defenses of our former coach, but an attempt to bring about better understanding and harmony among us. I have most obviously failed in that regard. Those "long-winded" responses were at least most honest and sincere and well-intended. It is obvious, painfully obvious, that posts here can be misunderstood, though, adn that just makes me sick.

Thanks still again. I had been so happy after reading your thread and had felt that we could just move happily to the future, realizing that we all have only had differing OPINIONS about our former coach. You mention that he's obviously going to be a topic because he is part of our past and tradition, and he will be discussed. I'm afraid he can't be discussed rationally without sides' being taken and emotions' becoming involved, as you mentioned. In fact, I followed UKfaninCO's lead (and he happened to have been ready for our former coach's departure, I believe) and posted yesterday that I would not make any comments whatsover about that former coach (regardless how bad any continued bashing gets, with the exception of character attacks), as I have learned the hard way that even innocent comments can surely get one "in trouble." Ironically, yesterday I had "angered" someone when I had been feeling no emotion whatsoever and had truly thought I was posting in the right way, respecting our differing OPINIONS (and my post, by pure bad luck, followed another poster's post that had been simulaneously written and thus caused misunderstanding--that's how easily it can happen). I think you know, though, that the emotion I have sincerely been feeling from the moment of the hire is HAPPINESS. In regard to some of the other stuff, I honestly don't "get it" and "never will."

Most of all, as I just posted on another thread, we are so fortunate to have this site. Some say I'm naive, but I just tend to think we are all good guys and gals with simply differing opinions. While I have grown to love everyone I have actually met here, I just tend to "love" all our members, that I "know" so many that I have not even met.

I cannot understand how it's so easy to be misunderstood. I cannot understand the anger I sometimes see. I guess when folks aren't talking "face to face," that can happen. Regardless, hopefully my "butting out" and just saying nothing at all will help this basketball forum. DenCat, my apologies for this "long-winded" response to you, but I HAD to express my feelings about that. Thanks again for TRYING. I guess I have to be positive and HOPE that it starts happening.
