Rhodes, who just completed his first season as an assistant coach at Idaho State, would like to join Billy Gillispie's new UK staff......

While Kentucky would be good for him and his coaching career, Rhodes said he would be good for Kentucky.

As a recruiter, he could call on his Jersey City, N.J., roots to relate to the many prospects in the New York metropolitan area.

"I know what it takes to get that kid because I was that kid," he said

I'm a little leary of him, whether it was his fault or Pitino's I don't like the way it ended for him at UK. Plus, any recruit is going to ask him why they should come to UK if he didn't even stay the whole time??? Also, there are thousands of former players who have "ties coast to coast" that doesn't mean they deserve a shot at coaching the best program in the country!

Sounds like he still has the confidence though :D I dunno. This would be a tough call by Gillispie, and might not be that hard fan-wise.

Wasn't his playing career maddening enough? What would his time as an assit. be like? This is one of the strangest things I have ever heard.

Rhodes got a really unfair rep in my opinion but at the same time what could he add to make this the best staff in the nation?

I'm holding no weird grudge against Roderick but like all the rest of the former players suggested regularly-I have to ask WHY???

Why for Rod, why for Shep, why for Mace to be honest?

I could see maybe Mash, Bowie and Sky for sure (because of their knowledge of the game and fire for the program), and maybe DA because of his personality but the recruiters are in place so scratch DA.
