He was listed as 7'1". Some say he "played much smaller" than that. He put up very modest numbers for four years. He didn't dominate the game. He wasn't blessed with exceptional basketball talent.
Still, I think this basketball player, who not only was NOT born in the state of Kentucky, or even in the United States for that matter, may have exemplified the spirit of KENTUCKY BASKETBALL with as much humility, dignity, determination, and effort as countless other "STARS" from the past.
He always gave 100% effort. Always. He always spoke in a positive and respectful way towards Kentucky, its basketball program, and its fans. He was, and is, one of the best ambassodors of Kentucky Basketball to ever wear a uniform. He was always humble, and grateful for his opportunity to play at UK. He has a sincerity and honesty that is rare in this day and age. He overcame the struggles that come with adapting to a new country, its customs, language, expectations. He earned my respect and admiration, and will always be one of my most admired players at UK. I wish every player we bring in has his heart, soul, desire and attitude. His contributions by some measures were miniscule. His contributions in other ways exceed our ability to measure. WOO, I will miss you, big guy. If the opportunity should come up in the future to return to Lexington in an assistant coaching capacity, I hope you are available. Your determination and positive attitude would reap huge dividends. Good luck wherever your path may lead, and thanks for everything you gave in your four years here!
