Sandy Bell, on 590 tonight, said that Morris came back after the Knicks season ended and worked hard to help UK with it's ARP Scholly deal.
Sandy said that Morris didn't have to do this but this will really help UK's ARP scores.
Way to go Randolph, always a CAT!!

Two big thumbs up to Mr. Morris. That was very big of him. I, as fan of the University, appreciate the efforts, both on and off the court, from the big man.

I agree. He was very under-rated as a person, and player. When he first tried to got to the NBA, I thought it was a mistake. He simply wasn't ready. But I don't think anyone can blame him for leaving when he did. That he came back to school to finish the year says a lot about him. I left college early(for a totally different reason), and went back. It was the hardest thing I ever did. I respect that he came back.

I was one of the folks that was angry regarding this issue. I thought he was leaving us at the alter with regards to this issue. I will now retract anything I said in that thread. This completley rectifies any neglect in my mind! Thanks for thinking about us Randolph!
That is a great move for Randolph. I'm glad to see him come back and finish out the semester.

Great for Morris and good for UK as well.
I hope someday he returns and finishes his degree.

Way to go Randolph. I dont think he was a bad guy. He was obligated to stay with Tubby, when Tubby left I dont think he had any obligation to stay around. Plus, how can you blame him for taking the big money he's making in the NBA.

that's great to hear. Morris was dogged and dissed way too much while he was here, I'm glad he's getting some praise now!

Morris is a class guy. I hope all those who wanted to "ban" his return read this.
We need more student/athletes like him!

He was recruited as a wonderful student and player. Looks like education still means something to this kid. Kudos Randy!!!!

This is just a guess, but I think it's the Academic Progress Report (which would actually be APR...). Anyway, it's the NCAA academic score all institutions get. If it falls too low, teams can lose scholarships and stuff. I think he came back to see if he could find a way to not be another "did not graduate in 4 years" player.

Seems he took a lot of undeserved heat.
The whole fax thing really did him in. I think it brought on a lot of undeserved criticism and some people will never forgive him for that, no matter how many good things he does.

KUDOS to Randolph, and kudos to you for this post and thread, JOHN.
By the way, I am not at all surprised. Everything I had ever read or heard about Randolph Morris was that he was a GREAT guy. I had hoped that he would do exactly what he's doing and had thought that it was a distinct possibility. As someone posted, Morris has CLASS, and having class means "doing the right thing," which is exactly what the young man did.
By the way, there's a lesson here for us fans on message boards. Currently one of our recruits is similarly being criticized by some here (in particular, the recruit's motives), a young man who is also reportedly a "great" guy. I know it's an old saying, but my beloved mom raised me not to say anything at all about someone if I didn't have something "nice" to say. While I know we cannot realistically follow that at all times on message boards, trying to think the best of folks and trying to make only positive remarks about their character can be a very good thing, at least as I see it.
Most of all, though, yes, Randolph, THANK YOU. Also, BLESS YOUR HEART and may you have the WONDERFUL future you deserve in the NBA.

I'm not really surprised either. When I heard he was on the Barn Storming Tour I thought he was probably back in class. Both of these acts show great respect and class for Randolph.

I agree with everything that is being said. As most of you probably know from my other posts, I have never really understood why the members of the Class of 08 have been the targets of such widespread disdain. They have all three been well-spoken, hard-working ambassadors for the program.
Great Job, Randolph. Go Knicks!

Nice post, bret1555. Unfortunately, I think the "disdain" of which you have spoken has been mostly fans' dealing with the disappointments that have occurred during their basketball times here. Fans had perhaps expected more positive results with our signing their top ranked class and have thus sometimes reacted in the way you mention. Too, in all fairness Morris' and Crawford's departures, along with Rondo's and Bradley's propensity to dribble, have contribued to those reactions. Further, admittedly, the junior class has not shown as much heart and soul as the Unforgettables, for instance, nor that of Chuck Hayes, in particular.
Like you, though, I think much of the criticism has NOT been deserved. Looking for and appreciating those positives, regardless of outcomes of games, is a good thing, as I see it. Yes, the juniors have been "good ambassadors for the program." None of them have been known to get into any trouble during their time here, something I appreciate. I truely believe we fans should possibly do more PRAISING and less criticizing and especially not attack players' character (when we do not even know these young men).
Most of all, still again, KUDOS to Randolph Morris. GO CATS! GO BILLY G!

That does surprise me as well. I never would have expected it but that goes to show how much these players really do love Kentucky. And I am glad he is doing so well in the NBA too. Go Randolph!

I am a little amazed by this.
When he made his ealy entry into the draft, stayed in, and when undrafted I thought that was a bad move. I owver felt like he was young and was most likely following bad advice. I nver thought he would be here for four years and when he left this time I figured he had met his original goal and that would be the last we saw of him.
The University and Tubby went out of the way to help him after the first mistake, I think he knows this and it is a great sign of how he has matured and grown that he is repaying the University by doing what he can now. Bravo Mr. Morris and best of luck in the NBA.
