There is all type of smack going on about how Kentucky Basketball and uofl football is better than the other but who is better in the pros? It is obvious that there is only 1 uofl player in the NBA that gets time (Garcia) and not many UK football players in the NFL. Who do you think is better? UK basketball players in the NBA or uofl football players in the NFL? I would argue UK basketball players because of guys like Prince, Walker, Mohammed, and others who start and get major minutes for championship teams. Opinions?

NBA, Blah. I don't even know the names of all the professional teams, much less who plays for them.

If you are going to compare shear numbers it is an unfair comparison because there are far more football players than basketball players. If you are going to compare championships earned by alums, good luck there are a lot more of them then you may think.

I wasnt comparing numbers I was comparing an impact on the game. According to your post you have just said "Kentucky is better" because you gave no argument what so ever for uofl players in the NFL. Also, I was talking about recent championships, not something that happened 50 years ago. Thats kind of why I brought up the names of Prince and Walker. The response I was looking for was something about how many games Kerry Rhodes started or how many sacks Dumervil had and their impact on games. Nice try though

UofL just had four players drafted in the NFL. 4 more signed free agent contracts.

As mentioned, Kerry Rhodes is one of the best SS's in the NFL. Elvis Dumervile had 8.5 sacks in 13 games in his rookie season. David Akers is one of, if not the best kicker in the NFL.

Sam Madison went to the Pro Bowl 4 years in a row.

Ted Washington has been to 4 Pro Bowls and has a Super Bowl ring.

Deion Branch was Super Bowl MVP.

IMO, there's no comparison

They are even. No one has any "superstars" in the pros right now. Prince is the best basketball player, and as of now hes just a very good role player. Akers and Deion Branch are great, but not superstars yet. Brian Brohm may end all debate on this in the future.

Or Michael Bush. The Raiders got an absolute steal.

Prince is much more than a role player. He's one of the best players on a team that has been loaded with talent for several years. He's also one of the more versatile players in the league and has an excellent all-around game.

No offense to Brian, he is a good college QB but I think he will end up like his father and brother in the bros. All hype. I wish him the best though

He's still behind Hamilton, Billups and Sheed. Sorry, thats what you call a role player.

Okay, so Juan Palacios is a role player, right? He's "behind" Williams, Sosa, and Padgett interms of scoring, playing time, etc. Derrick Caracter, too. They both fit your definition of a role player. Just because you're not the first, second, or even third option on your team doesn't make you a role player, especially when the team is as talented as Detroit's.

But Palacios and Caracter are ROLE players right now. Caracter has a chance to work his way up. Juan Diego will always be a role player.

Did you graduate from UL? Brandon Jenkins is a role player. Sheray Thomas is a role player. Yeah, Palacios' numbers were down this year, but I have a hard time calling a guy who gives you almost 10 and 6 a game a role player. I don't think you're giving your guys enough credit, but then again, I wouldn't either.

More specifically than what i said before, a role player does the "dirty work" a lot of the time and what doesnt always go in the stat sheet. Prince is probably Detroit's best defender b/c Big Ben is gone and being able to guard the 2 or 3 (all the best players in the NBA eg. Kobe, Dwayne, Lebron...) makes him very valuable, but hes not a star. Brandon Jenkins (same reasons as Tayshaun) is absolutely a role player as well as DC this year. Palacios was this year only because of injuries. Regardless of the terminology we lose, my point was Tayshaun's in the NBA isnt any better than Deion Branch in the NFL, role players or not.
