I posted this here because I wanted everyone to see how well John is doing this week!
As some of you know, I live in Scottsdale, AZ. I took the day off and went to the FBR Open to follow the former UK All American and PGA rookie. The tourney has not wrapped up yet today but, he is in Second Place and 10 Under. Mickelson was 8 under when I left the course with 6 holes to go. I wore my UK hat and a blue shirt and met some folks from Cambellsville who were also wearing their UK blue. We had a great time and I am planning on going tomorrow morning to follow him again. The FBR is a lot of fun with rowdy crowds. Right before he walked up to the infamous 16th, where the grandstands surround the green, someone yelled out GO CATS! Any other tournament, people would freak out but not at the FBR.
This kid is phenomenal. 4 yr. All American at UK, helps the US win the Walker Cup, wins Q school with every round in the 60's!, finishes 10th at his first pro tournament (Sony in Hawaii), finishes 28th at the Buick Open (1 bad round kept him from likely a top 10) and now this.
By the way, he is now going by JB Holmes for obvious reasons.
