I posted this here because I wanted everyone to see how well John is doing this week!

As some of you know, I live in Scottsdale, AZ. I took the day off and went to the FBR Open to follow the former UK All American and PGA rookie. The tourney has not wrapped up yet today but, he is in Second Place and 10 Under. Mickelson was 8 under when I left the course with 6 holes to go. I wore my UK hat and a blue shirt and met some folks from Cambellsville who were also wearing their UK blue. We had a great time and I am planning on going tomorrow morning to follow him again. The FBR is a lot of fun with rowdy crowds. Right before he walked up to the infamous 16th, where the grandstands surround the green, someone yelled out GO CATS! Any other tournament, people would freak out but not at the FBR.

This kid is phenomenal. 4 yr. All American at UK, helps the US win the Walker Cup, wins Q school with every round in the 60's!, finishes 10th at his first pro tournament (Sony in Hawaii), finishes 28th at the Buick Open (1 bad round kept him from likely a top 10) and now this.

By the way, he is now going by JB Holmes for obvious reasons.

I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard on Saturday, the rowdy crowd starting doing the C-A-T-S chant...

When he was walking off the 18th after the win to go and sign his score card, I heard several people yell "Go Cats!".

What a great story. I knew he'd be a good pro but to hear them put him in the same sentence with the Bear and Tiger already? Wow. What a source of pride for the Big Blue Family.

He's my new favorite golfer out on the tour. Of course, he was once he went pro. He didn't have to when a thing for me to be on his bandwagon

I may actually start watching golf now if he's playing. I turned on the tournament just in time to see him make his eagle, and I had to watch the rest. He is very good. The announcers were quite impressed by his accuracy on that 354 yd. drive.:)

In today's USA Today, Cobra Golf has a full page ad and picture of J.B. with "Congratulations, J.B., On Your Win at the FBR Open. Long and Accurate Just Took On a Whole New Meaning." The ad continues to point out that using his King Cobra Driver and Fairway Metal, J.B. unleashed 350-yard drives. Great picture of J.B. if anyone wants to check it out!

Also, http://www.cobragolf.com/corporate/pressRelease.asp?id=25:

J.B. by the Numbers at the FBR Open:

While Holmes' driving average was 308 yards on the measured driving holes, his average drives on all holes was 320.5 yards - tops in the event.
Holmes hit 47 of his 56 drives over 300 yards (84%), the most of any player.
Sixteen of Holmes' drives exceeded 340 yards, including a long of 365 yards.
In the final round, Holmes reached the green on the 332-yard par 4 17th with his King Cobra X/Speed 3-metal.
With an average of 3.75 and 4.25, Holmes led the field in par 4 scoring and tied for the lead in par 5 scoring, respectively.
The combination of the money earned from this week's victory, his T10 at the Sony Open and T28 at the Buick Invitational, makes Holmes the fastest ever to win $1 million on the PGA Tour. For the season, Holmes is 2nd in Driving Distance (313.5), and 4th in Scoring Average (68.82) and Earnings with nearly $1.1 million. Villegas is 3rd in Driving Distance (311.8), 16th in Scoring Average (69.73) and 19th in Earnings with over $300,000 to date.
