According to the CJ,the Downtown arena is now up to $500 Million and growing like Rick's nose(see Pinnochio),some if not all legislators are doing the Bossa Nova on this project.

Beginning to look like Freedom Hall is the home of lousyville basketball for the next millenium.I guess all those small minded legislators just don't understand the lockstep program...

Forget the Louisville Cardinals, it will be ashame for the City of Louisville if an arena is not built, however $500 Million is too much unless there's an NBA contract right behind it.

The political leadership in Louisville has been content for decades to promote a few nice products (Slugger Field, Waterfront Park, Extreme Park) while they ignore the larger picture and fall behind cities such as Nashville, Indianpolis and Cincinnati. If this arena fails, UK fans might count it as a victory but for the city & the state it will be bittersweet... heavy on the bitter!

I hope there is a interaction/internet/intranet of play by play section. Like The Gardens. You can get several camra angles on a lap top and just be insane competitive. All the while just enjoying the noise...

Here we go again, the reason Kentucky as a state is so backward is because: 1) Jefferson County cannot get along with the rest of the state, 2) Uk/Ul fans cannot put aside their differences on anything that may "help" the other side, 3) we think small and act petty.

Kentucky, the state of, needs Louisville to be a thriving city that brings in a lot of tax/tourism revenue. Louisville , the city of, needs an arena. If they can bring in a pro team to help make it financially sensible, more power to them.

Either the arena makes financial sense or it doesn't. If the numbers work, it will be good for the state. If they do not work, the last thing we all need is to waste money on a "pet project". Why don't we put aside politics and hate and look at this thing objectively?

This will be a total disgrace if the arena is not built. Currently, the Magic, Sonics, Hornets, Kings, and Clippers are all rumored to be on the move with OK city and Kansas City leading the pack....Louisville needs to seal the deal or its back to the turn of the 20th century for Kentucky!

Besides some cool technologies (seating at corridor or viewership interaction), the occupancy should increase. I mean. In Teaxs, Florida, California and New York are littered with sports. NCAA doesn't draw like here but Louisville could flourish with 30,000. The Fanatics are there and for that amount. You can open doors for smaller venues. A B-ball Arena should hold record for attendance maybe concerts/conventions could go smaller. Again a paperweight champion for sport. I might be goofy foooted here due to laws...:P

The NBA will not make it in Louisville. If they do get a team, their will be tremendous success at the beginning, similar to perhaps Charlotte. The market is not big enough and more importantly, the NBA product is not very great. Fans want to see some former UK,Uof L, IU players but that will get old after a few years. Then all you are looking at is rediculous prics for tix. College ball will always rule here, much like it does in the Carolinas.

When is the last time a major musical talent toured in Louisville, I'm tired of driving to Nashville or Indy or Cleveland to see a Concert. We need a major high class arena.

EXACTLY. I am so glad that MOST of the UK fans on here think rationally, unlike Grover. BTW, you can change your moniker 1,000 times but you will still sound like the same idiot. This is NOT a matter of UofL vs. UK. It's a matter of the state of Kentucky catching up with the rest of it's surrounding states...except WV. It's a freakin embarrassment we (as a state) are in the position we are in. We will ALWAYS be in Tennessee's, Ohio's and yes...even Indiana's shadow unless the state legislators put aside their differences with Jefferson County and grow a set. To tell you the truth, I LOVE Freedom Hall and couldn't imagine watching a basketball game in another venue. But for the sake of the city AND state of Kentucky....Louisville NEEDS THIS ARENA!
