I'll take a 2 point lead at the half, but...
The crappy no-call on Crawford's mugging cost us two free throws, which would have put us up by 7. Was a real momentum buster.
Then the ref's start calling ticky-tack stuff under the Florida basket.
I guess we were getting too far ahead.
Good stuff: Tubby's substitution pattern worked well. Our guys should be rested.
Let's get old "mo" back in the first 5 minutes of the second half and run away with this thing.

If we play this well the second half, and lose the game by 2-4 pts I am still going to feel pretty good. FL is a good team. They have taken nearly every break away from us but we are doing what we need to do and getting good games across the board. That is what we need to finish the season.

I thought that the running game was working well for us, it allowed us to get some easy baskets without having to battle their inside game... why slow it down to constant half-court sets?
IMO, we're working to hard each time down the court and they're capitalizing off of fast breaks... that's not how we won the 1st half!

kipper265
02-04-2006, 09:34 PM
Okay Rondo...during this TO we are going to discuss your handling of pick and roll defense.
1) stop switching. We have gotten burned for at least 12 points this half because of this.
2) Stop falling down on a flat screen. Nobody's buying it.
3) Try to go UNDER or OVER the screens. Our best defender needs to react to screens better.
4) Teammates: Shout "PICK" when Rondo is going to get obliterated by a screen.
Got it? Great. You'll be quized at the next TO.

7:58 left, down by 11.
I think the guys have given it all they got, and they've got nothing left. Were just outmatched by a top 10 ten on the road. I had hoped we could do better.
Great effort tonight, but we just aren't anywhere near being a contender this year.
I hope we can continue to improve this year and get a 7, 8 or 9 seed and see how far we can go.

I give the Cats credit, they came out and gave it their best, unfortunately their best isn't enough against a top 10 team, at least not this year.

Has Kentucky played a full 40-minute game all year? I don't recall the last one I have seen. This team should be called the 20 minute Cats, because for about 20minutes in a game they play pretty good basketball. For the other20 minutes, they play YMCA pick-up basketball.

I am sorry, but anybody who is thinking the outcome of this game is going to have some positive impact on the UT game must have missed the Vanderbilt game. Remember how UK was going to punish the Commodores after getting embarrased by Kansas. If this is the way UK is going to play, Tennessee is going to beat Kentucky by double digits. It's not like UK plays any better in Rupp. Talk about athletic teams, that's exactly what the Vols are. And unlike the Cats, they play 40 minute games.

I think UK needed to play a game like this at this point because they had been playing lesser quality teams in previous games. Now they can adjust, learn and prepare for the next big game vs. UT... UK has plenty of talent, they just need a fuzz more chemistry and fine tuning (especially on defense) to contend with ANY top 25 team...I don't think Florida could've played any better tonight, but there were areas where we could've...
