we are really just that bad. Especially on defense.... I mean giving up 60% on the game, especially considering half were dunks or layups..... ugh.

But we cannot or will not play defense. That kills you against good competition,

I have to respectfully disagree.
They have a super solid frontline, awesome backcourt...they're unbelievable athletic....and they are the class of the SEC and a final four contender.
This is a good, good team.

Duke, Memphis, UConn would all totally destroy Florida. Guys, South Carolina had their way with them at South Carolina. The only teams they have beaten (including us now) have been total chumps this year.
I have come to the conclusion that we suck this year. You guys are just in denial. Besides WVU early in the year, who have we beaten? Total chumps..... and we struggled to beat them.

So, you're saying that those 3 teams would come into the O-Dome and absolutely destroy this team?
I think you're smoking the crack pipe tonight...I agree UF played as well as they could tonight...but they're a legit top 10 team.

Florida is a very good team, period. They would beat UConn and the athleticism of their guards would give Duke fits. It pains me greatly to admit it but they are that good.
Mr. T
02-04-2006, 10:11 PM
I guess I should say I think Florida is a good team, but they are in no way a great team. They aren't top10 material in my opinion. Hell, no one in the SEC is probably. LSU really is the only one that really deserves to be in the top 15 IMO. No way we should be losing to Florida by 20+ points that is for sure.
Mr. T
02-04-2006, 10:14 PM
Guys, that's nice if you want to try to rationalize why we are getting destroyed tonight. I can tell you the reason, we suck.
Yes, UConn, Duke would win in the ODome by double digits in my opinion. Because they can actually play defense. I Mean cmon guys freakin Tennessee (I don't care if it was in Knoxville) played better defense against them than we did and they are the worst defensive team in the league.

First, I am not rationalizing our performance. If you read any of my past post, you will soon realize that I am not all that impressed, nor am I all that excited about the future.
However, that being said, Florida is a very good basketball team. Just because they aren't PUKE or UCONN, doesn't mean they suck....give me a break

Florida is a solid basketball team. Top 10, undoubtedly. They're built PERFECTLY. Perfect balance in their outside and inside game. Quite possibly the best frontcourt in America.
I didn't mind that we lost. I expected it if Brewer played. I thought our guys quit playing hard in the last 10:00 though, and that's disappointing.

UConn is absolutely the best team in the country, IMO. How anyone can deny that (with an alternative other than Duke), is way beyond me. I think they would handle Florida (or anyone). Outside of that, Florida could hang with any team in the country, right now.
We do suck, though. We don't play defense, and we crack under pressure. Need to rebound in a hurry, or UT will put us on another losing streak.

Tell me who Kansas has beaten????? Colorado, Texas A&M, Tex Tech, and Nebraska.... whoop de freakin doo. They also lost to Arkansas, St Joseph, Missouri and KANSAS FREAKIN STATE (who is so good that they are Baylors only win this year) who has sucked so long I forgot that they even played basketball. I am confident in saying Kansas sucks, but they sure layed the wood down on us.

I guess South Carolina must be the best team in the country since they dominated Florida and it took 6 straight 3's from Florida and about 3% free throw shooting from USC to make it even close.
Any of the teams I mentioned earlier would beat Florida 8 out of 10 any where they play.

Have you checked the scores of those games? KU is playing excellent ball right now and they're going to be a player by the time the end of the season rolls around.
They haven't played KSU yet...so you're wrong there..
Colorado and ISU are both very difficult gymnasiums to play in...and are not guaranteed wins for anyone in the country...especially with the team they have in Boulder this year. Richard Roby is a player without a doubt.
So, at least get some facts straight and watch the games before you come hard at someone with attitude.

Don't think so. FL looks pretty solid. If we had more hops we could have defended better but Green was nearly unstoppable as was Noah. We are not a poor team, but I am afraid this year we will have to concede that we are not a top 10. FL, looks like they are to me. No real holes that I can see, with a very competitive balanced offense.

so go find another team...youve said "we suck" more than enough for me in your posts. Tonight "we" didnt play great in the second half and were beaten by a better team on the road in a hostile environment. Where were your "we suck" posts during the past 5 game winning streak? Did we regress that much in one game against the #7 team in the nation on the road to where you JUST realized "we" suck or did you feel this way for the past couple of weeks and just came around to posting on it tonight?
It wasnt pretty and I hate it more than anyone living down here but lets to argue a point better than "we" suck cause "we" dont, you might, but "we", as UK fans and the team dont suck.

I don't think the SEC is horrible. At the very bottom it is, but at the top and in the middle we are as good as anyone except the Big 10 and Big East. You see the fact that South Carolina can beat Florida as a validation of the weakness of the conference. I see it the other way: to me, it proves that the conference has the depth.

Just because I didn't post "we suck" the last 5 games, I am a band wagoneer huh? Yeah right. I didn't post it because everyone was getting their warm fuzzies before the truth smacked us in the face tonight.
That also doesn't change the fact that we STRUGGGGGGLE to beat teams we should beat handily. youre absolutely entitled to your opinion but bring more to the table than "we suck," thats weak. We got beaten by a team that absolutely deserves to be in the Top 10 and the best you can do to discredit that is attack their schedule and their conference, neither of which their players can control.
Wow, had you posted your TRUE feelings prior to this blowout loss then I might have given a little weight to your argument but since it comes on the heels of such a horrrible performance its just another random, pissed off "we suck" post. When we win the next 4-5 in a row you'll be singing a different tune guaranteed.
I hate giving florida credit but they are good and could beat Duke or UConn on any given night, they have the talent.

Well, what more do you want me to give? I gave my reasons why. We don't play good defense. Florida hasn't beaten anybody. We have gotten hammered on multiple times. It's not like it was a one line "we suck" post. Everyone just has to face that we aren't a very good team. We will probably make the tourney as a 7-10 seed and then maybe win one depending on the draw.
Just because they could beat them on any given night doesn't mean they are a top team. Until they beat someone, ANYONE worth anything I stand by my opinion of them. Their BIG wins over Wake Forest and Syracuse don't look so hot now. They beat WF by 5.... and WF is what 12-10 and 1-8 in the ACC?

Sadly Mr. T, I think your statement is absolutely incorrect. ;)
Florida has a heap of good talent, good scouting, good coaching. What team really would have an answer for Noah the way he played last night? The kid is a monster. There is a very nice compliment of players around him too, Horford, Green, Humphrey, Brewer, all are capable of singly taking over a game and burying you.
Talent wise, Kentucky just could not stack up. I really could not believe that Kentucky was going to be able to beat Florida. But I do not believe the same is true for Tennessee. I believe we can and will beat the Vols!

Bottom line is that we don't see Mr.T post after wins, he waits in the shadows hoping for a loss so he can come forth with this drivel. His premise is quite comical and shows that he either (a) didn't watch the game, (b) knows very little about basketball, (c) looks for every opportunity to rag on the Cats, or (d) is just clueless.
I pick (c).
This is just the follow up thread to his early January thread entitled, "Sadly .... I think it's time to say it .... time to start the search for a different coach." This is just another attempt at rationalizing his earlier statement.

All top teams either lose or have close games from time to time. It doesn't mean that they are suddenly bum' when they do. The game just goes that way sometimes. In that USC / Fla game USC shot 26 freethrows and Florida shot 10. Home Cooking? Maybe. Florida also shot better from the floor. Noah and Horford had a combined 22 rebounds in that game as well. Who was blocking them out?
We played USC and though they are not top 10, they are a solid team. Florida, if they can play as they did last night on a regular basis, is a top 10 team without question.

Larry....whatever. Never in this thread did I EVER mention getting rid of Tubby now did I? Now name something that I said that I don't have the evidence to backup huh? Can you not admit that we are sub par (by KY standards) this year?
And about my earlier post... big deal, I thought this message board was about opinions? It wasn't a drive by post, I didn't flame and rant and rave. Just because someone isn't a rah rah yes man such as yourself, don't get offended.
As far as not posting after wins. This year to be honest our wins haven't been anything to brag about. But everyone on the board was thinking we were a final four team again or going to win the SEC. Sorry, I tried to not rain on everyone's parade, I will make sure that I am more consistent next time and will make sure everyone knows we beat a chump.
You see, I can actually be very positive..... when there is something to be positive about. There really hasn't been anything this year, but trust me when I see it this year I will post about it.

That's all well and good, except the UF-USC game WASN'T close. I watched the whole thing and USC handed their butt to them. Now Florida did get 6 straight 3's while USC was playing their "make sure not to foul" defense and USC did miss about 7 out of their last 10 free throws so that UF could pull close for the final tally, but there was no doubt about the outcome.
If they play like last night yes they are..... but they won't. Until this thread I didn't realize it was such a sin for a fan to admit that your own teams defense is awful but apparently it is. But that is why Florida looked so good, because our defense is BAAAAAAAD.

I'm with you 100% BA Barracus. KU is a mediocre team with lots of talent and 0 intelligence. They lose to a lot of bad teams, and they're about to lose to OU at home today. They DID lose to Kstate and anyone who says otherwise needs to learn to read. They also lost to Missouri, the same 10-10 team that lost to Davidson and Sam Houston St. KU is however, playing better, much like ourselves. they started off playing horrible, like us, and have picked their game up like us.
As for your comments on FL, again FWIW, i back you 100%. I do not in anyway shape or form, think they are a top 10 team. Woo hoo, wins over WF, SYRand a sub par UK team? Not to mention, had we done anything in 2nd half, we would've won that game AT Florida. The only GOOD team they played was TN, and they lost that game. Noah, Green and Brewer are good, i'm not debating that, but they are not amazing like everyone says.FL's SOS does not merit a #7 ranking.

And that is all that I am trying to say. Florida is a good team, not a great one. The fact that we have gotten BLOWN out by 3 average to good teams in KU, IU, and UF says it all.
I mean if UF's front line did that kind of damage..... what is LSU's gonna do to us AT LSU. Ouch.
I do actually like our chances against UT however since they like to push tempo and that is when we are at our best. Also they aren't a good half court D team either.
