Does this mean Patterson to UK? Lucas to UK? Ivan Renko to UK?

Yeah, but I am just meh on Lucas anyways... we have guards.... we need big men now.

I'll still be a UK fan when I wake up tomorrow- and Billy Gillispie will still be our coach.
I'm good.

I read that he was "ours to lose". Surely if that was true, and we did indeed "lose" him, Gillispie knows something good.

Surely. :icon_neutral:

I've read elsewhere that he was "ours to lose", but after reading the comments from his coach, it appears that UNLV was leader all along...but that could just be my interpretation.

Or, this whole myspace thing really ticked the guy off. I can't imagine it hacking me off to the point of not seriously considering a school, however. Me being the conspiracy theorist that I am, I could easily see a Rick Pitino type of maneuver taking place here; A scenario that has Hamga pulling his name out before UK can pull theirs.

That is true, but the guy should be smart enough to know that you are going to have crazies in the fan base. Heck, I would argue that he is inheriting a lot more hysteria over in LV than he would here.

Sounds like the Cameroon-Connection was too strong a draw.

Seriously, what if BCG knew better news this weekend and didn't promise the scholly? What if we get both PP and JL- aren't we short a scholly anyway?

Lots could've happened to affect Hagma's decision. The fact that UK was on him as hard as we were is a good sign for the future, IMHO.

what if we don't? I thought he was UK's to lose? Either Billy G messed something up or he wasn't as close to UK as everybody thought? Dissapointing!

It is probably a bit premature to assume that BG messed anything up. BG came on late, gave Hamga his best, and now he is not here.

I think you're moniker sez it all....the myspace messages/stalkers scared the kid and his handlers..maybe he didn't want to be a "rock star". Sandy better get a handle on your fan base and fast.

I'm not putting the blame on him at all (yet) I'm just wondering what could have happened. I don't put a lot of merit into this myspace deal, that doesn't seem like a reason that he wouldn't go to UK.

*chortle*

How in the hell is Sandy Bell going to get a "handle" on 17-year-old kids posting from their parents' basements?

Nothing to be done about it, really. Almost impossible to police retroactively. You just hope that it comes out, somewhere down the road, that Hamga chose UNLV for reasons that had nothing to do with that nonsense.

"OK just of the phone with Decatur (Ill.) Christian coach Alan Huss, who asked me "where is this being reported" that Hamga had committed to UNLV.

If THIS is true, does the Lexington media have their heads up their collective butts or what? The whole BD to UK thing with WLEX (or whichever it was) and then this? Who knows anymore....

No kidding...my gosh the man has only been a coach for 8 weeks...We can't get them all guys!!! RELAX!

This is not going to be fixed over night fellas...If some of us Cat fans start pointing fingers at BCG, I'll have a hard time coming back to this board. Unbelievable guys...it's just a recruit...yeah we needed him, but there are tons of kids out there waiting for that call.

Hamga to UNLV has been discredited by his current coach. This whole thing is very strange. Apparently KSR (Ky Sports Radio) has sources that talked to his coach and his coach said Hamga hasnt made any decisions at this point.

Marc Maggard says it's a done deal (yeah, he used the phrase) they are just buying time to plan a press conference.

Jody Demling hasn't given it up yet.

Still holding on the Hamga story.

The latest word out of his camp is that he is leaning towards making a commitment to UNLV. If he has actually committed yet or not is unclear.

This one is a mess!

I am completely confused as to where this came from.
Marc Maggard says his coach told him that Hamga wanted to "be the man" not just another player and at UNLV he feels he can be the man. Pretty stupid if you ask me!

Prediction: Mike Williams is going to surprise some Kentucky fnas who have wrote him off. The reason a coach takes on a project is that sometimes projects work out. This one is going to work out. I don't know how much he'll be able to help us next year, but I predict that he'll be all SEC before he leaves Kentucky and will go on to play in the NBA.

His coach has flip-flopped with his statements many times. He was originally saying Hamga would remain in High School, then that he was ready to sign with UK.

WHy UNLV....have they even made the NCAA in the last 5 years.........WHY would he chose this school..sad day for UK basketball when we lose recruits to a basketball program like this
