I agree man. i think lucas made the best decision for himself. i mean there was no way a 5'8" frosh PG was starting over a 6'6" soph PG on a team that is void of big men. i mean it's simple logic. i still think we have a shot of landing patterson. maybe i'm delusionial. but, i think patterson may pick us for the same reason lucas picked UF. if not and he decides on UF well then they easily have the #1 class in the nation.

Give Lucas and Callathes a year to season and UF has the best backcourt in the nation.

that's a bold statement.....i'm not sure it would be best in the SEC. i mean we'd have jasper & meeks/legion, UT would have the smith kids who are both pretty good, USC is going to have the transfers in fredrick from GA TECH and the kid from cincy (can't remember his name). there are some other good young backcourts. hell, i'd take sosa and jerry smith over those two. don't get me wrong they're going to be a good back court. but, in 08 florida will have to pg's under 6'0 tall on the roster. that means matchup problems.

Yea Id take Jasper and Meeks over Lucas and Calathes any day. We will dominate them with or without PP

Callathes is a great shooter and scorer and will be a great player in the SEC but I just have a hard time seeing Lucas as much more than a back up at UF. I was never really sold on him being that great a thing if he came to UK unless he brought patterson with him. Really he is a good PG with a decent outside shot not a world beater at 5'8.

Maybe I will be wrong it has happened before but think things are going to look a lot different for him once he has to play against bigger guards that are equally as quick as him for the most part.

I think they are similar pairs actually. Meeks is a great shooter and scorer like Calathes. Jasper and Lucas will be the pair that will decide that match up. If Jasper can work on his shooting then they will dominate Lucas and Calathes. Then you add in Legion and UK will have a better overall guard tandom than most.

???????????????????

Lucas at the point and Callathes at the 2 spot is going to be DEADLY. You will not be able to press UF at all, you will have to guard the 3 point line closely, and both guys can penetrate and dish. The only question is can they play defense against taller guys consistently.

I would take this pair in a heartbeat.

Yule, i get what your saying. but, i just don't see how lucas and calathes are the best backcourt as sophs. like i said they will be great in college. but there are several other backcourts that will be just as good as them if not far superior. just two off the top of my head.

UK:
+jasper @ 6'6" is a mismatch waiting to happen for any school. he does have to prove he can shoot. but his mechanics aren't nearly as flawed as rondo's were. he merely lacks the confidence.

+meeks has already proven hes a good shooter and has a chance to become a great shooter. he's very, very physical and has an NBA body now. he's also one of the quickest guards in the SEC if not the country.

who would lucas guard???

UL:
+sosa has proven to be a great scorer and is able to penetrate at will. i think he will only get better and better under pitino.
+smith gives you everything calathes will minus a little height and athleticism. he's a terrific shooter and will thrive in UL's system.

it's way too early to call them the best backcourt. they haven't even played a college game. another thing we're not even bringing up is depth. i think florida really drops off there because they will have another pg under 6'0" on the bench. i just don't see them being that great as sophs. they will be really good. but, not the best in the nation.

"I hope Lucas breaks his leg"

I wouldn't wish that on anyone, I cringed when I saw Bush go down.

As for Lucas, I wish him the best. I'm glad it's over. We have guards and other needs. We are in need of big guys.

As for Patterson, he's at UF. I don't see Lucas going there without Patterson. Although I think if they had both planned on going to UF they would have done it the same day. But then again, this has turned into a circuis with them.

easy blueboy, that attack was aimed at the peeps at the paws...or was that your post? Seriously man, a fan that wishes a kid to break a leg cause he chose to go to another school? Pretty deranged...

I think both teams are going to have some serious issues with young talented players. It will be a good game I think.

You are right we will have a couple of guys with a little more experience than UF might. But the majority of our talent will be young. Meeks has produced well but he is only a Soph and we do not need to be leaning on him for production. Last year he came in without much pressure and just produced this year a little more will be expected of him so we will see how he handles that. I think he will be great but I am not going to bet the farm on it.

North Carolina wasnt too bad after they lost Felton and his crew, and they were looking at the same thing Florida is now.
