to me now what the purpose of Lucas delaying his college decision for so long was? He said all along it was because he wanted to make sure the coaches were staying at their respective schools and would stay throughout his career. And now the proof is out that Donovan is interested in the NBA and will likely bolt there sooner or later but Jai committs there anyway. Strange kid I must say.

I am assuming he feels differently about it than you do. If he thought Billy D was leaving for the NBA then I don't think he would be going there.

Lucas wont stay in college for 4 years, probably two. He knows Billy D is staying next year, i guess thats all that matters to him. Plus I'm sure Billy D told him he was there to stay.

18 year olds don't always make the most logical decisions. When I was 18, sometimes I didn't either. I think Lucas made a mistake. I still wish him well.

It is very strange. Maybe the Lucas family doesn't read the papers?

Or perhaps they do read the paper, and Jai and his parents have experienced a great deal of internecine turmoil over this decision.

Honestly, IMO, I don't think UK is that great of a fit for him with all the guards we have, plus a solid young PG in Jasper. I think the wait may have been partly because PP is doing his own thing. I think JL went to FL for playing time and I think PP comes to UK for the same reason.

I think Donovan probably assured them that he wasn't leaving, and he bought it

I think he was waiting on Taureen Green signing with an agent or not. Writing was on the wall once Green signed. Did we really need another guard?

We need Patterson more than Lucas! Sanchez is still out there, too.

Two years? I would be shocked if he makes the NBA after 4 years.

Internecine....I've seen that word somewhere before!

I posted the same thing in another thread and was asked where I got my info. So look out.

I agree with a couple things I read regarding this.

First, I believe without a doubt that Donavon put on a serious face when asked if he was staying put at Florida. Like he would say, "Nah, probably not".

Second, I don't believe this kid goes pro early if at all. I'm not a big fan of predictions before he has had a chance to prove himself but the odds are against him heavily. Furthermore, I doubt PP is even capable of going pro early and getting drafted.

very rarely does a 5' 10'' point guard make it in the NBA and have a successful career. I just dont see him being an impact NBA player... sorry i just dont see it!

totally agree, did anyone watch the NBA game last nite, the smallest guard on the court was like 6'5...I would bet right now that Lucas plays overseas...not to many 5'8 pg's in the NBA.

Does anyone think it is possible that Lucas swung so quickly from not having Florida on his list, to signing with Florida because he thinks (or knows, or thinks he knows) that is where Patterson is going?

I disagree. I think JL will be more like his older brother. I think he may turn out to be a 4 year potential all-american, all-sec at worst, and will ride off into the sunset after he is wrapped up. He is 5'10 and lacks in a few areas. Will be a great college player, IMO, and will probably get on our nerves by the time he is a senior (in a good player way), but I definetly dont think this guy is headed to the NBA before his college career is completed.

I have to tell you that I'm not that upset that we didn't get Lucas. We really didn't need another guard. Now Patterson is a different story. We need that inside presence. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Geez - I think BillyD is a fine coach -and UF a fantastic program. I would have loved for him to sign up with UK - but can't blame him for signing with the Hot guy and the Hot program right now.

Good luck Jai - (except of course when you suit up against UK)!

I'll never understand how 'fans' love a recruit until he signs elsewhere....

I think several of us on here have been pretty open about not "loving" Jai. I had even seen several people suggest pulling the scholly offer to concentrate on next year( Brandon Jennings). We just didn't seem to need him. We need big guys. And yes, even if we were in "love" with them, when they sign elsewhere they are fair game. After that, the only concern I have for them is beating them every time we play them. Sorry but that's how I feel. I'm not going out of my way to wish him luck. Call me a bad guy if it makes you morally superior.
