We have a cluttered PG spot as it is, and although he may have been able to win the starting spot he wouldn't get the minutes here that he will have at UF.

I say good luck to you Jai, see you on the losing side of the scoreboard!

We have Jasper, Porter, and the ability to switch Ramel over at times. I'm not surprised at Jai's decisions and I'm not really worried about it too much. I like where we are at PG wise.

I don't think it was the smart decision, but I don't blame the kid. Best of luck when he's not playing UK.

this was absolutely the best decision for him personally. i mean come on we got four returning SEC caliber guards in meeks, bradley, crawford, and jasper. that's not even counting porter and legion. then you look at the fact that jasper, the returning starter @ his position is 6'6" and one of our best rebounders on a team that lacks inside depth. you have to wonder if he was going to get much PT as a frosh. i would've loved to see him in UK blue. but, i think he made the best decision he could. now, for his sake i hope donovan doesn't do something shady like jump to orlando after recruiting this kid.

That is a really good post and great points. I agree completely!

I hope at some point we see Donovan and Gillispie go head to head with our Billy coming out on top.

This was not a must get for UK, but I think Lucas is more of a pure PG than any player we currently have on the team. UK wins a couple more games last year with a pure PG like Lucas.

I like Porter, Bradley, and Jasper, but I am not sure that any of them should be playing college PG.

Jasper has to get quicker with the ball and develop the ability to blow past people off the dribble, especially with his left hand AND he must improve his outside shot. Porter is a good kid, hard worker and a contributor but not a guy that will lead you to a final four unless he is surrounded by great talent, ala Anthony Epps.

Jasper may develop into a great point guard under BCG. All is not lost on this decision.

Personally, I would like to see Porter playing more 2G. The kid plays good defense, can handle the rock well for a 2G, passes extremely well in the open court, and can knock down the outside shot. I think he should be playing shooting guard.

you can't blame Jai, he's an 18 year old kid that was being pulled in a million different directions by a million different people and he did what he thought was best for him and his family. He seems like a really good kid, would have made a great Wildcat, but now it's time to move on.
