Not really surprised by this one. Wednesday just can't get here soon enough, can it?

Not a shocker. Looks like KY will have more 08 scholarships to give.

I'm not liking this. We did not need Lucas, but we needed two of the three big guys Sanchez, Hamga, Patterson. :icon_cry:

Good for Pelphrey. Job one for him is to keep the best home. Sanchez lives just a few minutes from campus. Good luck to John!

Looks like it's a done-deal.

I will just be glad when Thursday gets here and then football season.

No wonder I quit following recruiting so close.

Yeah, John needed him more than we did (that is if we get PP). That being said, I hope we hand it to Florida and Arkansas next year .

apparently we lost sight of Legion and Stewart. We HAVE solid recruits. Lucas knew he was getting no PT. Patterson is still a ? and Sanchez is ... just a lost opportunity.

We'll be fine. Wait for Patterson, the sky isn't falling just yet

We need some beef on the line next season. Who we got coming back besides Stevenson anyway? I do feel that Perry will be vastly improved.

I always figured Sanchez was a long shot once Ark. entered the pitcture. He is a life long fan and he lived less than 15 minutes away. That is tought to beat. It is amazing that it all happened in the span of 10 hours. Crazy day. I bet BCG is pissed today. Probably his toughest day so far as UK coach. Onward and upward. Better days are coming once BCG gets time to recruit.

Carter, Coury, Stewart,Williams as well as Stevenson. These are the ones that I can think of.

You're not kidding. I may just keep away from it from now on.

I know I may be in the minority on this one, but I honestly feel that Sanchez would have been another very mediocre player. I watched a couple of the videos, and I just did not see anything special. To me, it would have been another prototypical, mundane, Tubby-style recruit.

This should just remind us that recruiting is not always about the coach. Legion chose UK. Gillispie's arrival was important, but we also know that Coury and Crawford were instrumental in making the kid feel good about UK.

Sanchez considered UK, but his heart was probably always 10 minutes up the road. A new coach sealed the deal.

Lucas was always looking for playing time. Green announcing for the NBA was probably the deciding factor.

We can go back a few years and see similar situations.

Rondo stayed close to home, but probably would have chosen UL had RP not been so enamored with a troubled McDee AA. The kid from Meeks' school chose Georgia Tech. Getting him away from his home school would have been difficult, as it was the year before when the big center went to Tech.

There are numerous reasons why kids make their decisions. It is not as cut and dry as some would have us believe.

Getting Morris, Meeks, Jasper, and Crawford were huge recruiting victories. Their reasons for choosing UK probably are only really known by a few people, but the successful recruitment of these kids was quite an accomplishment. Perhaps, they have stories similar to Alex Legion. Who knows.

Next season's lineup and style is starting to resemble the 4 guard line up that Nova had a couple years ago, when they started Foye, Ray, Nardi and Lowry.

I think that is right. Hopefully, Stephenson or someone else can protect the paint on defense.

I couldn't agree more and feel the same about Hamga. I truly don't think that these two were huge losses for us. We don't need any more projects at this point. Not saying that Sanchez was necessarily a project but certainly Hamga was.

I think we are looking better and better with PP. He has been his own man all along on this thing and wants to play immediately. We'll see tomorrow, but I think we may be pleasantly surprised.

this is not a good day for UK basketball. What once was looking so promising was quickly washed away. This sucks

I know your stance on Lucas was that it was a huge loss. IMO, it was not all that bad. All along, it was my hopes that we would land Lucas just to get to Patterson. The fact of the matter is that we did not need a PG for this year, and we will easily be able to address that position in next year's class in all liklihood. Today is still a great day for UK. We have a great coach who clearly has us primed for success. I think it is important not to get too down over the situation that occured yesterday.

In retrospect, JL was clearly the best of the there that defected, and we genuinely did not need him for the coming season, and we will be able to address that position in the coming future.

Your and my opinions are the same. I think it's a huge loss only because I think that guarantees we lose out on Patterson.

  from me, too, Caveman. Recruiting is indeed NOT "cut and dry." Too, I think Coach Gillispie is going to be an absolutely GREAT recruiter for UK, BUT he will NOT get every player he wants, unfortunately, even when he has more time. Perhaps it was good for us fans to see that several days ago. We can HOPE to get every player we want, but NO COACH is going to be able to bring them in. Having said that, I LOVE our chances with Coach Gillispie. :) GO CATS! GO BILLY G!

Gillispie admitted as much in his recent presser. He said they will take swings and miss, but they will take swings and hit, as well.

Patterson was a huge hit. As I have said before, I thought recruiting for this year could only be saved by a Donovan or Calipari. Gillispie proved that to be wrong.

Sanchez, you blew it son- you had a chance to play along-side PP and play for a seasoned coach. I can't blame you for playing for Pelph a few years from now.

Anyhoo.
