Any chance Patterson has told Billy G in the past couple of days that he will indeed come to uk? Why else would Sanchez and Hamga not wait a few days to see what Patterson is doing? One of them, I can see. Both of them in the same day, something seems to be up. I don't believe they both just chose those schools over UK. They both knew patterson was our number one, and you cannot tell me Sanchez and Hamga both wouldnt have had harder choices between UK and Ark/ UNLV than the quick commitments we have seen. Could Billy G have let them both know we are signing Patterson Wednesday? Looking at the glass half full here, and hoping........

I would think that it would be more realistic that the kids asked about PP, and BG told them that if he signed him, that he would fit in awfully well. I don't think BG would have told them that he is going to be signing with any certainty whatsoever... but who knows.

I don't think Patterson played any role at all in the Sanchez recruitment. He had a chance to play college ball just a few miles from home. It'd've been very difficult to get him out of that.
Hamga. Like Sanchez, I doubt Patterson's looming decision affected him in any way. I'm not sure what went on there. I threw a few ideas out in another thread, but I'd imagine that only he and "his people" know what really happened. All we can do is speculate.
And it is fun to speculate.
Bottom line, though. These "losses" do not vitiate our recruiting efforts the way, say, Branden Wright did last season. IMO, of course.

I think Littlemeyer is right about Sanchez.
I think Hamga's AAU coach, or whoever the fearmonger about the Myspace guy is, played a role in his decision. I also don't think that he knew much about UK until he came to UK. I get the feeling that Gillispie was not recruiting him quite as hard. It might be that he played with the team when he was at UK and the reports were not as good as Gill would have liked. But, I do think that the AAU coach's negative comments played a role AND I think that was his intention.

Don't think for one minute that your usage of the word for the day went unnoticed. :icon_biggrin:

The more I think about the Hamga decision, I believe that his AAU coach had a lot to do with his choice. I have heard that BCG is very involved with AAU coaches, but most of these guys have a "seedy" reputation.

Littlemeyer is right on. I didn't realize Sanchez lived that close to Univ. of Ark. Kinda like Big Baby going to LSU High School and staying in Baton Rouge. Plus, Pelphrey learned recruiting from Pitino and Donovon- two of the best in the past 20 years.
Hamga is a late-blooming Cameroon-born player following another late-blooming Cameroon-born player to UNLV. I'll bet that connection weighed more into his decision than anything else. Besides, Las Vegas is more visually impressive than Lexington (just by a little!) and Hagma might've been blown away by his visit. Sunday's at Rehab @ Hard Rock's pool are more attractive than Sunday's at Griffin Gate's brunch.
