There are certain rituals I go through on the days that Kentucky has a football game or a basketball game. I decided to try them today because Patterson is going to sign a LOI this afternoon.
I drank two cups of tea from my UK cup this morning. (I drink two cups of tea every morning, but this is a cup only used on UK game days.) I have another UK cup that I drink two cups of tea from when the Cats win. I'll drink out of that one if Patterson signs with us.
Also I don't make my bed on game day, so I didn't make it this morning. (I may fudge and make it after Patterson's press conference, whichever way it goes.)
While I'm typing this, I'm listening to a Monkees CD. That's not part of my ritual. I just wanted to hear the CD that I bought yesterday. But if Patterson signs with us today, it may become a part of my ritual.
What chance do we have with Patterson. Well, the rituals worked 30 times this past school year. (8 times in football and 22 times in basketball) Of course, I should probably give the players and coaches some credit for our victories. Likewise, our best chance of signing Patterson today is the fine job Coach Gillispie did in recruiting him. What our coach has done can be compared to a man beginning to run a marathon when the other contestants are already at the 20 mile mark. Now the race is still going and he's in sight of the finish line. Win or lose this one, you have to applaud him.
