Did any of you see Miss USA fall at the Miss Universe Padgent last night? And then the crowd in Mexico booed her. I wasn't sure exactly what was going on? Did they dislike her because she is American, because of the fall, or because Miss Mexico didn't make it??

I only saw a clip of her fall as I'd never sit through a freakin' beauty pageant, ever! Anyway, she was a very pretty girl and I felt bad about her falling and that she was booed. As she doesn't make or exact our foreign policies, they're no fault of hers and she didn't deserve their ire. However, I doubt a U.S. crowd would have behaved any better if, say, Miss Iran were to participate and this sort of harsh treatment/reaction is just the likely result, albeit misplaced and mean, of disasterous foreign policies.:shrug1:

Unless we give them what they want they will boo anyone representing the US. Miss America is just an easy target. Utterly disagree on disasterous foreign policy. It is Congress that is holding up the change in the laws, not the Executive Office. However, both that point and this counter point do not belong outside of a political forum.

I wasn't trying to get political. Just wondering why they booed. I didn't watch the beginning but turned it on in the middle, just before the fall. So I'm not sure if she was booed before she fell.

According to the news, crowds booed her earlier in the week during a parade too, in protest of immigration policies and global politics.
Guess there is that element in any country, but :icon_rolleyes: :thumbdn: We may end up in the political forum with this.

I surely never thought of a beauty contest as political. I'm in a ladies discussion group. I was just wondering what was going.

Sorry "Arkansas"...didn't mean to go all political, either. I thought I was simply offering one possible explanation for the crowds rude behavior.

Neither have I. It should be a "politics aside" event, but apparently some folks in Mexico didn't want to leave it at that. Kudos to Miss USA for rising above the disrespect shown to her during her stay in Mexico.

She looked like that was a painful fall...straight on her tail bone. She recovered as best she could. I didn't watch. Just saw the clips.
