How long do you think it will take for Dickie V to jump on the Billy G bandwagon? My guess...not very long.
GO CATS!!!

If Dukie V is on life support pull the plug.
Let me be the first to nominate myself for that honor.

as much as Dickie V loves Duke, Billy D, UNC, and as annoying as his voice gets...you have to admit he gives UK a lot of praise at times. I think he likes UK and Billy G and I am sure that will continue.

Dickie V is THE ONLY national sports commentator that will consistently give UK credit, and rarely -- if ever -- has anything bad to say about the program (the Tubby fiasco notwithstanding). For that reason he's OK in my book...
Now, as far as the likes of Billy Packer, Jay Bilas, Mike DeCourcy, Seth Davis and any of the other brain-dead talking heads you want to mention, well hell, I'd be more than happy to pull the plug on them! ;)

I agree with all of those except Bilas. He is very insightful and always has good things to say about UK.

I agree about Bilas....he was one of the few who was positive about the Tubby to Minnesota- Billy G to Kentucky changes. He is about as intelligent and unbiased as you are going to find in the national media. I don't understand how you can lump him in with the others.

Easy!
Maybe I'm seeing him on different shows/occasions than you are, but I can't recall any positive comments from him regarding the UK program, at least not over the course of this past season. IMHO Bilas is just another ACC brown-noser as far as I'm concerned. Nowhere near as bad as Packer mind you, but cut from the same cloth.

Wow lol youd think that with all of the things the guy has done for college basketball hed get a little more respect. I for one like the guy and hopes he jumps on the UK bandwagon. If he would be in our building for 3 or 4 games next year we would get so much publicity it wouldnt be funny. With him in the house thats guranteed national tv. Sure he has had his bad things to say about UK and is all about the ACC but thats just one mans opinion and its respected throughout the collegiate level. He has earned my respect and Ill welcome him anytime he wants to jump on

Vitale said some really hateful/ hurtful things about the UK supporters, specially towards the end of the season. Would present examples but those who were following it dont need any reminders.
Bilas, on the other hand, had many articles and comments in which he said Kentucky isnt the Kentucky of old. He and Pat Forde said that our recruting was killing us. He and Forde defended the zealousness of the supporters. When Vitale, Katz, Wilbon, and anyone else said Kentucky is no longer a premiere job, he completely disagreed. He was the one bright spot on ESPN during our search.
Now, all the talking heads are saying Billy G is going to jump UK back into the national spotlight. How is it possible that will happen if our expectations are unrealistic? That is our expectation. Nothing more. We simply want to be a legitimate contender as we should be.
In my opinion and probably in many others' as well, Vitale is nothing more than a greasy, slimy politician for sale to the highest bidder.

You can't mention Bilas and PACCer in the same sentence. Bilas gives UK tons of props, to the point that he recently said that UK is a hands down better job then UF. Watch him some more BN -- he's definitely way better than most of those ACC brown-nosers.

That's not right at all.
Bilas has had many, many fine things to say about the University of Kentucky. He will predict against us at times, sure, but that's not the same as ripping the fanbase as Vitale et al. have done at times.

Amen to that Will- my only problem is trying to figure out just what these folks that have basically bragged on vitale or have been critical of Bilas in this thread- what the hell have they been watching?

Jay Bilas has always, in my book, been an upstanding and fair voice for all of college basketball. As for Bilas not waxing poetic about last season's team, I don't think anyone was picking UK to win anything. I am as a hard core fans as the next guy and I correctly predicted that UK would lose in round 2. Nobody was anti UK, when predicting a tourney run. The Cats just weren't a "great" team, last year.
Vitale downright degraded the fanbase during the Tubby fiasco. He refused to look at the situation from an unbiased standpoint, and really said some off-the-wall things that made me lose respect for him as a college basketball insider. Not like it matters.
I agree with some others, Jay Bilas is the only one I can stand on ESPN as it pertains to their college basketball unit. He has said some really good things about UK and the program, but when he hasn't, he still has been very unbiased in his approach and wasn't just mouthing off for the sake of it. I can respect that.

Imagine Johnny Olson announcing and a few hundred thousand Wildcat Faithful standing next to Bob Barker's replacement, Jay Bilas.
Jay: Johnny, show them what they've won.
Johnny: A New Coach!!!

I remember Jay Bilas taking up for the UK fans when everyone else was giving us down the road. Vitale was trying to get him to say the overzealous fans make it hard to succeed at Kentucky, but Bilas wouldn't bite. He had nothing but good things to say about us. That's why I love him with all my heart. :icon_mrgreen:

I believe you are confused. I usually only hear good things about UK come from Bilas. He's allright. I can't recall one time he has bad-mouthed UK.

Vitale needs to stay away from Lexington. He should not be at anytime welcomed into WILDCAT COUNTRY unless he apologizes on national TV about the comments he made during Tubby's departure. Jay Bilas on the other hand, even though he is a Dukie, has always been fair to UK and everyother school he has ever commented about. GO CATS!!!!

I do think that when Vitale next travels to Rupp he will be in for a rude awakening. He said many hurtful things about UK fans during the recent coaching search, things that will not IMHO be forgotten. He will be puzzled and confused as to why the wonderful UK fans have turned on him. UK fans will once again be villified in the media. It is a never ending saga.
GO BIG BLUE!!!
