Just found this article...thought you guys would like to see that Jai has began the process.

Again, this may come to pass, but I wouldn't put much stock in things Mr. Bonshire says. That new website of his tends to want to grab headlines, and the way they want to do it is by appearing to be the first "with the scoop".

Mr. Bonshire, just three hours before Lucas signed with Florida, announced that he was Kentucky-bound.

It's not a huge gamble to guess that Lucas may seek a release, but the story he writes makes it sound official; almost as if he has talked to Jai himself.

I'm not sure Lucas would talk to Mr. Bonshire before talking to anybody else. Merely guessing, they could be best buddies for all I know. But I doubt it. :)

I'm like a lot of other people. If Coach G wants him and Lucas wants to come here, great! He'd be a welcome addition. But, by the same token, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it if he enrolls elsewhere or stays at Florida.

I guess I will have to be the first to say it...but...if Jai wants to come WE need him. We do not have a true point guard...Jasper and Porter are not the best at handling the ball once across half court. Bradely is a 2 guys...and a good 2...but just a decent 1. With this said and I know I am going to be hearlded as wrong...WE need a true pint guard...and Jai would be that!

I'll believe it when I see it on a reputable website. These guys throw things out there and hope they end up being right so that they can they had the story first.

Well, he IS pint-sized, so maybe he would be a good fit.

keep what you have, Honestly, you all have better players at PG and he would be a liability on D. I think the only reason you all wanted him in the first place was to help get PP. His name carries a lot more weight than his game.

If you dont believe Jasper is a true point then I think you are crazy lol Jasper does all of the things a PG should do. He is big enough to see over the press, has good ball handling skills, looks to pass first, rebounds, plays good D, and has the abiltity to drive past people. Why is he not a true PG? We dont need a PG who can go score 20 we need one to get his 6 or 7 points, 6 or 7 rebounds, and 6 or 7 assists. Thats what Jasper does.

As much as I like DJ (and truly believe he will be a great one before he leaves), on next year's team it will be huge if our point guard is a threat from three.

when did Jasper do any of that? Here's his numbers for last year:

GP-GS Min FG% 3PT% FT% R/G A/G STL BLK PTS/G
34-27 20.3 .613 .214 .525 3.6 2.9 30 8 3.9

I hope he picks it up and improves but I don't think you can say we don't have a need for a PG based on these numbers and what he showed last year. The potential may be there but I still think we could use a pure ppooint guard who can shoot (Jasper can't).

I agree.

Jasper has a lot of potential, but he had an AWFUL second half of the year last year. Awful.

If we are going to hang our hat on Jasper -- which I think we eventually will, because I don't think Lucas is coming and Ramel's not a point guard -- then that kid better be busting his butt every single day this summer, because he's got a loooooong way to go before he's ready to put up the numbers teamchemistry suggests he can.

Well stated by both of you...I too do not belive Jai will come...I think he is OK State bound...but if he is willing...we take him...we need a true point.

He is not a "true" point guard because he does not do well the things a "true" point guard should. A good point guard IMO has a good Ast/TO ratio, good free throw shooting ability has command of the team and is at least a threat to shoot the ball. His free throw % is 53%, which is not acceptable. Ast/TO ratio: 1.43 to 1, which is ridiculous! He never looked comfortable running the team and the only shot he made were dunks layups and an occaisonal putback. Tell me how that is a "true" point guard. Please. I don't understand why some people(you in particular, teamchemistry07, defend Jasper to the death. I don't understand it. No doubt the kid has talent but I do not think he is the answer at point and I am not alone in my thoughts.
