UK needs another athletic big man to go along with Patrick Patterson.
We have enough guards.
I'm tired of Lucas acting like the entire UK nation holds their breath with every word that comes out of his mouth.
I hope he stays in Florida so when UK puts a double digit beat down on them this year he will realize that college basketball doesn't live and die with his dribble.

We may be by ourselves but i agree with you. I f he wanted to be at UK he would have signed with UK.

You may be right, but another way to look at it would be to say that Lucas would have signed with UK originally if Donovan had been truthful to him during the recruitment process.

.
where did you get the impression that lucas is acting this way ?
my feeling on lucas is this:
I've maintained in several other forums that now that he has chosen uf over us, I do not want him as a Wildcat. but I can't help but hope that he leaves florida now, because that would just be one more spin in their downward spiral, which I am enjoying very much. so I guess I hope he goes to ok state.
but I do think it is the media who is making too big a deal of the words that come out of his mouth. I do feel that he was deceived by donovan, as were all of the gator fans who still, for some reason, want to place him on a pedestal. but that does not make me feel bad enough for lucas to take him in like a sick puppy in the rain and give him treats.

That is no one but Jais fault for believing Donovan. Everyone in the nation saw this move coming. Even Patterson told him, "I told ya so. Come on down to Kentucky with me" It was in the paper this morning that PP told Jai that. Everyone except Jai saw Billy D leaving so its no ones fault but his he chose Florida.

I disagree. Lucas was speaking to Donovan personally, something those of us with apparent incredible insight were not, and he actually believed the guy. I cannot blame him for believing what the coach was saying versus a few thousand pundits, professional and otherwise.

Yes, Donovan told him he would stay at UF...and CatFaninBathTub is right, you're projecting the posts on this board as acts coming from Lucas, he's not the one leaving us hanging in limbo, in fact as of today he's still at UF and until he meets with the new coach he won't get out of his LOI (if he wants to), his father has said that if he backs out UK would be a player, but let the kid figure it out, and if we have a scholly for him then I'll welcome him with open arms, as we did with Alex Legion....

I totally disagree with you. I would love to have him here. How can you fault Lucas for reconsidering? All we've heard from Billy D., what ever the rumors UK, Orlando, Miami, whatever is he was happy where he was and I believed him at the time. Plus, Lucas wanted to play for the coach that he thought was gonna be there. Also, Billy G has said that he isnt necessarily recruiting for positions he said he wanted players. And from all Ive seen Lucas is an excellent player. Just my take on it.

Agreed. I can't believe all the animosity towards JL. I guess we should not have taken Legion either, since he originally wanted to go to another school.
Although Lucas may have been foolish to have believed a man who slicks his hair back, UK would be foolish to spurn Lucas just because he originally committed to Florida. Fans who don't want Lucas (and are being very personal about it) sound like spurned lovers, rather than fans who want the best players on their team.

There's also a segment of the fanbase who would like to keep the scholarship for next year.
I've said, however, that I believe that's a dangerous way to recruit -- especially when we still have talent deficiencies -- given the way players defect in today's college basketball.

At least on this board, this is incorrect. Read the threads in the recruiting column; those who don't want Lucas overwhelmingly do not want him because they feel the schoolarship is best spent elsewhere.

I don't believe UK or Coach G would spurn him over his initial commitment for a second. I think if they decide to pass it will be because Coach G has other options he feels more strongly about since the commitment. I have only seen a couple posts that even remotely sounded like the person didn't want Jai because of committing to UF, but even in those cases I don't think they put that above the good of the team.
As the two posts before me have said, some folks just think things have changed and the scholly could be better used elsewhere or another time. Nothing wrong with that opinion at all.

I have a question. Is Lucas as good as all the attention warrants? Playing HS ball in Texas, I'm sure he played against some pretty good competition. If he is as good as advertised, and if Billy G wants him, I say welcome Jai.

Well, there is a little bit of difference between the two. About eight inches and two years of recruiting. I think many people were done with him when he signed with FL. Me being one of those people. He strung us along for two years, only to sign with a Johnny-come-lately rival. That does make for some bad blood, no matter how you look at it. We had no history with Legion. It was a clean slate. I respect your post, but just think it is not a good comparison. I think most people here feel that whatever BCG wants to do is good with them. I agree. If he does leave and wants to come, and BCG wants him, I trust BCG.

A huge difference is that Legion never acted like it was between UK and Michigan and kept going back and forth.
Legion never acted like he was bigger than UK basketball.
Legion never acted like it was all about him and UK was his second choice.
We don't need Lucas and quite frankly I don't want Lucas. Just another Rondo.

I cringe when I see this type of attitude from our fan base. How old is Lucas? Did you have everything figured out at that age? He made a decision that he thought was best for his career. Period.
He never acted like he was bigger than our program. These decisions ARE all about these kids, not you and me. Don't take it so personally. Jai has been nothing but complementary and respectful of UK, he simply felt that UF would be a better situation. At least we were in his final two schools, that should say something to you.
Stop acting like a jilted lover and ease up on the kid. Put your trust in our coach and some perspective in your posts. GO BIG BLUE!!

I have to say that I have forgotten about trusting the coach. I'm acting like Tubby is still in charge. I do believe in Billy.

Absolutely, DenCat. If Coach Gillispie wants Lucas, I, too, welcome him with open arms, as I feel sure is the case for MOST Kentucky fans. GO CATS! GO BILLY G!
