Looking at this season's schedule which do you think will be the most pivotal game of the season?

Good question! :)

Other than the traditional "every game is pivotal" schtick, in my mind, Louisville is THE pivotal game. A win here, and we are 3-0 heading to Fayetteville with confidence and momentum against a team that has had its pride hurt in the offseason. Of next pivotal importance is the South Carolina game. After a short week, we travel to Columbia. A win here prepares us mentally for murderer's row: LSU, Florida, Georgia, and UT. Historically, we have whiffed against Spurrier, and beating them puts us up in the SEC East.

It all depends, but I say Louisville, because, if all goes according to plan, it will be the first ranked team that UK plays. The ranked team that UK beats first next season will be the biggest game of the year.

I said Florida because they are the national champs..we beat them and we will finally get our due and respect

I say Kent State, because if we do not beat Kent State, then neither UofL nor anything else much matters anymore.

I didn't know we played Texas.

johnkyblue:

Your UTk beef goes all the way back to wildcatfaithful. Your never going to sell people on it. My home town may have used to be known as "Frank's Fort", but everybody knows it today as Frankfort. Same goes for UT.

Please let UTk die gracefully. It ain't ever coming back.

My vote is Florida. Coming out of the gates with a victory against the top team in our division will set the stage for a truly special year in my opinion. I hope in 20 years we can all look back and say last year was the year that UK football landed back on the map in NCAA sports.

I went with UL partly because I despise them and partly because it would generate some big MO going into conference play.

I'm not going to say Louisville, because I think we're going to beat the Cards. I really do. I've been amazingly solid with my football picks the last four or five years (even though I know nothing about the sport), so you might want to listen to me if you're a betting person. :icon_mrgreen:

My vote goes to South Carolina.

That game was a phenomenally important game last year and we dropped it. Even though we had a tremendous season, think about how much better it would have been if we could've pulled that game off.

Again, we should have a similar team to USC (okay, I'm guessing here, but you'd think we'd be about even talent-wise), and that game might push us over into 8 wins -- which would be fantastic.

If you go by the talent brought into each program the last few years, South Carolina should be miles ahead of UK but the results on the field tells a different story. How could a much more talented team coached by Superior be basically even with a team such as UK coached by an old 'has been'? I tell ya it's just a mystery. ;)

One of these days the 'coach that's a legend in his own mind' will take it on the chin from the Cats. Winning at SC this year would be huge.

As far as the most important game this season it's always the next one so I'd have to say EKU.

A no brainer for me at least. Our anual game agianst the Orange Stain is always the biggest game.

The Louisville game is everything - and we don't even have to win the game. If we win then yes, UK will roll to a big year (8-4, 9-3 level). If they lose but its a close, somewhat defensive battle - showing improvement against a loaded U of L offense then I can see us getting wins elsewhere (Arkansas, SC).

However, if we have a repeat of a 59-28 or so loss, then this year will end at 5-7.

The Louisville game will answer your questions about the season by showing if our defense can come along and shutting down a team playing in its prime.

The UofL game will give us the confidence we need to start the season off. Even if we can keep it close we are doing good. It will shouw us how our defense will play this year and the composure of our offense. I think if we beat uofl we are on track for a HUGE season

Its gotta be Tennessee............if there is ever a year that our talent is on par with the Vols, its this year. When we end this losing streak is when a new era in UK football really begins........lets get those goalposts

I do not look for UT to be in the hunt for the SEC east title. Florida lost a lot in the NFL draft, but they are still reloaded. For me personally, I want U of L and UT to go down hard more than any other team.

However, since the Cats are playing for th SEC east title, I see The South Carolina game as being monumental. UT will fall this year at Commonwealth as will U of L. I will be insanely happy, but the SC game is the most important to our SEC east future. Hopefully two other teams will beat Florida twice. A win at SC for Kentucky, and Georgia becomes the second most important game on our schedule. I don't know if Kentucky fans are ready for this season.

Please have your pre-season EKG and a thorough physical before coming to Commonwealth.

Couldn't agree more, although beating UT won't be easy. They're good, but it all rides on how well their QB recovers, as well as the coaching staff. Fulmer's on the hot seat like never before.

If it weren't for the Volunteers UTa would be U of South America.

UT has way too many questions on both sides of the ball, but I look for our front seven to show some stength and depth this year. As much as it pains me to say it, I think Spurrier may sieze his opportunity to sneak up on the East. This may be his one shot.

We've discussed this in the past, but I just get the feeling that Spurrier needs a top-shelf school to dominate. My feeling with him also is that his best days are past, but I agree, he has a nasty way of getting to you.

I apologize that memories of Spurrier beating UT with Duke cloud my judgement. The real question this year is do you have to dominate to win the East? I think that it is more about winning the right games. I can see a scenario with the SEC east winner having two conference losses. It will come down to head to head matchups.

Well-said, RV. Also, I so agree that winning at South Carolina this season would be HUGE for the Cats AND that the NEXT game is always the "most important game." GO CATS!!!

I really feel the Arkansas game will be THE pivotal one for us. They will be coming off an away game at ALABAMA and it's hard to get back to reality after such a big rivalry game. If they beat BAMA, they'll be overconfident; if they lose, they'll feel the pressure of possibly losing their first 2 SEC games. For us, even if we lose to UL, beating the Razorbacks means a BIG win on the road and puts us at 4-1 going to South Carolina. I like the possibilities!
