SEVEN PLAYERS WILL GO TO UK

By Chip Cosby

HERALD-LEADER STAFF WRITER

Seven future University of Kentucky Wildcats participated in the Kentucky All-Stars' 38-24 win over Tennessee on Friday night.

Future offensive linemen Stuart Hines and Phil Hibbard switched over to the defensive side of the ball and played key roles in Kentucky's shutting down of the Tennessee running game in the second half.
Hibbard contributed a tackle for loss and a hurry while Hines, one of the highest rated members of UK's recruiting class, also had a stop behind the line.

Kicker Ryan Tydlacka also had a nice game. Six of his seven kickoffs were touchbacks, while his only punt went for 46 yards for a fair catch. Tydlacka impressed Downs in the workouts leading up to the game.
"He's the best punter I've ever seen," Downs said.

After reading the Courier Journal version of the win, I thought only Beaumont and Anderson were playing for the Kentucky Stars. I'm glad to see someone was blocking during the record offensive comback. Obviously someone was blocking. Those walk-ons sound like real contributors as well. I may have to adopt those guys.

There could be no better news than what I read about Tydlacka. Hopefully he has a quick motion to go along with the distance. This would be the icing on what may be the best UK football team since 77.

Blocking and Punting... the missing ingredients appear to have been found. I can't believe what is unfolding at UK this fall.

Yes I am excited about those guys we have coming in but Beaumont is going to be an amazing player for uofl. This guy went off in an all-star game and had 93 yards rushing and 85 receiving. Not many guys dominate games like that. And he did it through the entire season too. If he had some size to him, he would be the most dominant player to EVER come out of Kentucky. But he is going to be a dynamic player for uofl. Kind of like Reggie Bush

I wouldn't call him Reggie Bush just yet. ;) A few years back a player named Arliss Beach torched Tennessee's all-stars in similar fashion. And although Arliss had a nice career at UK, he didn't enjoy the same success as Reggie Bush.

I watched Beaumont play against St.X and Trinity last season..he is better than the Anderson kid from X...he proved that on the field that night when Male blew X out......he will have a great run at UL.......

Dude, I bleed blue, but to Arliss' defense, he didn't have the line to run behind that Bush did, and he still had a good career. That's like saying Tim Couch sux as a QB because he didn't have as good of a career that Peyton does. Well, if Peyton went to Cleveland, he'd be down and out now too. For a RB or QB to be successful, you gotta have those bodies blocking and opening up holes. Arliss would have been as good or better then Bush had he been able to run behind a line of that caliber.

Thanks for the link, Brian. Too, I had shared Coach Downs' comment on another thread. I LOVED reading that comment about future Cat Mr. Tydlacker! :)

In regard to Beaumont, I think Louisville is really getting a good one, unfortunately.

Beaumont was dynamic on both sides of the ball for Male the last 2 years. He is untouchable on the field. He is going to uofl where he has a good QB, good WRs and a good line to all help him get less attention from the defense out there which will allow him to break out like crazy. Beach didnt have a Brohm to torch the defense or a Urrutia or Douglas to not allow him to have that extra guy watching him. Beach wasnt as successful because the defense knew he was the main weapon on the field. UofL has 4 and 5 different weapons who will all put up numbers. Anyone who has watched Beaumont play, and I did for two years being in the same district, will tell you that this kid is going to be amazing. In the end, he will go down as one of the best backs in uofl history

Tydlacka impressed me, he kicked everything into the endzone and the one that didn't get there made it to the 1 yd-line, he punted once for 47 yds with no return. I wish he would've kicked a field-goal.

I thought Hibbard showed a lot.

I'm not knocking the kid. I just hate to see anybody get compared to the next Reggie Bush, Michael Jordan, or Tiger Woods. It's an unfair comparison.

The next Michael Bush? Maybe? George Bush? Hey, that would be great as a Cat fan!

I understand it being unfair to Jordan or Woods. But Im not comparing him to Emmit Smith or Barry Sanders or even Tiki Barber. I am comparing him to Reggie Bush because Reggie had a great college career with crazy moves. I remember seeing Bushs high school high lights on Sportscenter one day and Beaumont has shown some of the same moves the last 2 years. I honestly think Beaumont will be the best back in UofL history if he stays healthy all 4 years. He is much more 2 dimensional than any back they have ever seen. He can lineup as a reciever and be a threat at any time
