Micah was almost as good in HS as a RB as he was on the defensive side of the ball.
Since he arrived here at UK its been said that he's too small for the D-line and not laterally fast enough for LB.
Could he be our version of a Michael Bush or Jerome Bettis ? I believe that the move would be a smart one, even if it is just in the red zone offense to begin with. Also imagine using him as a blocking back for Little.

I always thought we should have used him for short gains and in the red zone last year. He was unstoppable with the ball in high school because he is so big. I think he could very well be our version of a Jerome Bettis but he needs to get working on it right now if that is the plans. He is a defensive player naturally and will need some fine tuning at the RB position. And where would he fit in with our rotation? I think we need to keep him on defense and use him kind of like a Jason Taylor or Simeon Rice. Someone who can line up on the line and at LB. He should get some time in the backfield though and just be the big bruiser for us. He would really help get some 1st downs and TDs.

The risk with a part-time running back is ALWAYS fumbling. You simply cannot have that near the goal line, or anywhere, for that matter.
While the experiment worked very well in the MCB, Brooks did acknowledge that the play frequently mis-fired in practice due to fumbles. So, moving Micah full-time is one thing. To use him only on the goal line can be risky.

While this is true, there is a different angle to look at this at. Lets say Micah only came in on goal line situations or at a time we needed a yard for a first down. He would get the ball, cover it with both hands, and lower his shoulder and plow straight forward. He would have both hands covering the ball which brings up a less chance of him fumbling

I would have assumed that a lot of the problem with fumbling was with the QB/RB exchange. His holding the ball with two hands after the exchange would not impact this.

Possibly but I dont think that a player who played RB for 4 years in high school and who would get a ton of reps in practice would have too much of a problem taking the ball from his QB and covering it up. Im sure maybe once or twice sometimes but what RB doesnt do that? Everyone coughs it up sometimes

In HS he was bigger than most people he played with and against. That's not the case in College, but I like the idea.

True it helped him because he was bigger, but he isnt small in the SEC. a 250 lb RB is small? He is too small to play the D-line sure, but not to play RB. He would be a great guy to bring in on the goal line and short yard situations. I say get him some reps in practice and use his athletic ability as much as possible

personally I would rather have him at FB until Little graduates....Imagine Micah and Little in the backfield at the same time

Great point, Brooks talked about using Micah at the goaline after the MCB and said they ran that play in practice and he fumbled............BUT.....if he worked all fall on it, who knows?
If he doesn't make it at LB and doesn't want to play DE, then FB would have to be the next move.
