Busy Weekend For Brown
By Phil Kornblut
Cheraw WR Jaron Brown (6-3 190) did not make it to USC's camp last week as he had planned, but he was on the road the end of the week. Brown made an unofficial visit to West Virginia, and he attended a camp at Kentucky. "Morgantown is very nice," he said of his West Virginia visit. "It's just like my little town. The people are very nice. I met with Steve Slaton and Pat White and met with the receivers coach. I got to tour the campus, and it was very nice, and I learned a lot about it. The most amazing thing about Kentucky was the weight room. I got to meet the quarterback. And I had a great day in camp. I ran a 4.4 forty and a 4.2 shuttle." Brown will visit Tennessee and Vanderbilt the week of June 25th and probably will visit USC and Clemson in July. He does not have a favorite and plans to cut his list to a top five by the end of the summer. His offers are USC, Clemson, Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, Vanderbilt and Duke.

Thanks for the link, Andy.
I notice that the only positive Brown mentioned about UK was its weight room. It seems that he was most impressed by West Virginia, though. Here's hoping that he later sees more positives in UK.

Palmetto State star hears hometown pleas
Jaron Brown, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound wide receiver from Cheraw (S.C.), is sporting seven Division I scholarship offers.
South Carolina, Clemson, Kentucky, West Virginia, Vanderbilt, Duke and Tennessee are each officially in the running to sign Brown.
“Right now, I have no front runner,” Brown said. “It’s wide open.”
But friends and relatives are urging him to stay close to home and commit to Clemson or South Carolina.
“I hear it all the time,” Brown said. “Cheraw is a small town full of a lot of Gamecock and Clemson fans.”

A player near the top of Kentucky's wide receiver wish list recently visited Lexington for one of the Wildcats' summer camps.
"I went up to Kentucky around the 14th of June for one of their one-day camps," said Cheraw (S.C.) standout Jaron Brown. "I had a real good time up there. It was actually the first time I've run a 4.4 in the forty. I did a 4.44 on grass for them and had a 4.2 in the shuttle. I was feeling really good that day."
The UK camp experience left a strong impression on Brown, who has also been receiving heavy interest from schools like West Virginia, Tennessee, Clemson, Vanderbilt, South Carolina and Duke...

Three-star wide receiver Jaron Brown out of Cheraw, S.C. is beginning to look at visits. The 6-foot-2, 187-pounder has at least one trip planned to one of his top three schools in the near future for an unofficial visit.
"I'm planning on going to Clemson for the Florida State game on Labor Day," he said. "That's the only visit I have planned so far. It will just be an unofficial.
"I'm also looking at a trip sometime soon to South Carolina for at least one of their practices. I plan to take some other unofficials for games this season and then I'll focus on my officials later on in December."
At this time, Clemson and South Carolina are two of Brown's top three.
"I'm still favoring South Carolina, Clemson and West Virginia," he said. "I've taken a look at how many receivers these teams have and I think it's the best position for me to come in. I'm trying to get some playing time."
While the Tigers, Gamecocks and Mountaineers stand out, the No. 17 prospect in South Carolina claims there are still other schools he's looking at.
"I'm still considering Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Kentucky as well," he stated. "All of them are telling me I've got a great opportunity at receiver and I'm a position of need."
Brown and Cheraw open the season on August 24th.
