First, you have to subtract out the guys who got hurt and probably won't play. IIRC, they are: Minton, Jenkins, Cessna, and Thurmond.

Paris will play more than a typical third-stringer. He'll be on the field situationally on passing downs, lining up on either side.

The J Williams/Nance competition as SLB will be interesting. Either of those guys could end up #1.

Need another body at WLB, and I'm wondering if Schwindel will move up. Incoming Chris Drayton will get a look there also, I think.

I'll be surprised if Grigsby doesn't move ahead of Moore in the CB rotation.

Masthay faces competition from incoming Ryan Tydlacka in the fall.

Tydlacka was described as the best punter the Kentucky all-stars coach had ever seen. Brooks expects him to compete right away. Masthay should be inspired this summer to improve.

And, will Drayton be at UK next year? That seems to be up in the air at this moment.

As to Michael Schwindel, I think the depth chart is misleading as I think he spent a lot of the spring testing the waters at lber.

Has Nance been playind well enough to fight for a starting position over a returning starter?

I think Drayton will be here.

I didn't notice Schwindel getting a lot of time at WLB at the practices I attended, although I admit I didn't spend a lot of time watching him in particular. I just think he's facing a logjam at S and a move to WLB would be a natural progression for him. I think he's a pretty good athlete.

With respect to J Williams/Nance, yes, Nance made a move in the spring. Williams has the look of an SEC linebacker. His problem has been getting his assignments down. If he can't play smarter, Nance is athletic enough to overtake him.

Thanks.

Did Nance walk-on or is he on scholarship?

49 Chris Cessna, 6-4, 220, Fr-HS
54 Brandon Thurmond, 6-2, 215, Fr-RS

I know that was the spring chart but here's where we are going into the fall:

Left Tackle
91 Corey Peters, 6-3, 290, So-1L
93 Austin Moss, 6-0, 250, So-1L
We really need to find someone to provide depth here. Could it be McCord or even Hines?

Strongside Linebacker
51 Johnny Williams, 6-3, 240, Jr-2L

Thanks to Caveman, Jim, and RV. I think you guys know how much I LOVE reading such information.

I have one question, though. Is it CERTAIN that Ventrell Jenkins will not be able to play this coming season? From what I had read, I had figured that would PROBABLY be the case, but the coaches had still been hopeful he would recover and be able to play. I'm assuming you guys have some recent information in that regard.

I wondered the same thing. Perhaps someone else can give us some insight.

I really wish we would go ahead and move Johnson to DE. He would be a force there with his speed/size.

OK, our backup left tackle is listed at 6'0" and 250 lbs.

Micah is listed at 6'2" and 270 lbs.

I think I have an idea ...

Those five can make for a pretty good rotation. Two get hurt and we need somebody to step up from not on the list.

I agree .. this kids has too much speed and potential to sit on the sidelines behind Braxton. He could be an all sec DE or I will even take my chances playing him at DT to give breathers!! He is too good to watch.
