LEXINGTON - The words unique and different always enter the conversation when discussing the talent of versatile swingman DeAndre Liggins.
Because of his size, the 6-feet-6 playmaker is widely considered a point-forward adept at playing multiple positions.
"I play with a lot of passion," Liggins said over the phone Sunday. "I do all the intangible things, all the little stuff to make my team better."
University of Kentucky coaches are hopeful Liggins will provide the same energy while running the team as its point guard one day.
Liggins, who will be a senior at George Washington High School (Chicago), took an unofficial visit to UK over the weekend.

The article is wrong in one regard...we have two point guards on our roster, not one...don't slight my man Michael Porter ;)

Is Liggins not a small forward?

I don't think many got to see my last post to the other thread on Liggins where I posted this video of him. I thought I would add to this for those that had not seen it before. Looks like a solid player.

If UK signs Leonard Washington then they will be fighting it out to start next year. If UK signs Liggins then they wont need to sign Miller from kentucky. There is a lot of ifs here. Too bad there is only 3 Scholies left for next year, that is if they don't use one this year.

Washington is a PF not a SF/SG which is what Liggins would probably be.

Is Liggins not a small forward?
He is labeled as a point forward meaning he can play the PG spot and the SF. A very versatile player that averaged 14pts, 10 rbs and 10 assists for his HS last year. Very good numbers for a SF. Kinda like Lebron James is for the Cavaliers
Think a more aggressive Jasper. Nice to see us in on top quality players, but I think we have bigger fish to fry. I would rather have 2 out of Clark, Miller, Warren to go with a big, hopefully Zeller.

I too am a fan of Michael Porter, but I think he would be better as a 2G than a PG.

He's a pretty big fish to fry. If his ankle heals all right, he has a very good chance at putting on the McDonald's uniform next year.

Washington will probably play the 3 a lot as well. If Jodie develops as he's been on track to, and Jasper can pick up where he stopped at January, they may compete for some time at the 3.

Yes.
From the article (which I think is accurate here): "Because of his size, the 6-feet-6 playmaker is widely considered a point-forward adept at playing multiple positions."
I am not sure that UK is looking at him primarily as a PG though as the article says. I say that not because I know what position UK is expecting him to play at UK if he comes to UK, but because UK has PG G.J. Vilarino coming in and then in the class after that UK leads for PG K.C. Ross-Miller. I would let Miller play a lot at SF and some at 2G too, but that is just my opinion.

I would certainly love to get Darius and would hate to see another great Kentucky kid head off to possibly UT, UF or Indiana but if better or equally better small forwards take our offer, we can't turn them away. Maybe Darius will sign, but only if he wants to- I wouldn't want a "verbal", have him decommit and then not have the others around to sign.

But now warren is saying that he will go to the same school as clarke. So if that is true and we are the leader for Clarke now that would only leave one scholarship for 2008. So what would you do then? You can't really pass up Miller if he really wants to come here since his in-state. But at the same time you need the size of Zeller. Any ideas?

Thanks for the link, WildcatRick. It's a really good read, folks.
As I read about how Mr. Liggins CAN score, but LOVES to assist (getting his teammates involved) and defend, I think I like this guy a lot. By the way, one service rates him #18 and another at #26. GO CATS! GO BILLY G!

All I have heard about him he is a PF that is why they are recruiting him so hard right now.

Pretty soon the whole team will be 6'6". We are going to need some height sometime.
