"One reason I'm here is to get the UK program out there to smaller towns, I enjoy coming to speak to groups like this because I am blue through and through and we want to have as many native Kentuckians as we can play football at the state university," Phillips said. "It was always my dream to play at UK and at the next level and now another dream has been realized by getting the opportunity to coach at Kentucky."

If there is one thing this staff truly understands, it is that you need to get to the Kentucky kids early. There are busloads of Kentucky junior high school football players that attend every UK home game.

Yes, Coach Phillips is quite serious about getting youngsters within the state to come Kentucky. The first time I met him (the year he returned as a coach to the Cats) he was talking about getting more guys from western Kentucky to Lexington.

Opening the link, I read how Coach Phillips had stressed how important it was for the youngsters to do their work in the classroom and to do the right thing off the field, including respecting their parents. How I admire and respect this man.

I also liked reading how Phillips can see in the upperclassmen's eyes how they want to continue winning. I naturally like that he thinks that things are progressing nicely, too. :) GO CATS!!!
