Yes today I have 153's and 4's!! It is farm day and we are going to make butter in baby food jars! I am going to find the elementary kids and see how many checked out the skies last night. See if they were really listening yesterday when I told them about the planets.

Oh farm day :D! We did that at summer camp a few years ago. We made butter, it was great, and ice cream in a bag which was really good. We also poked a needle hole in the finger tips of latex gloves, filled them withwater, and the kids milked them. It was hilarious and dangerous to be around if you didn't want to get squirted. Our kids were older, though. You must be exhausted after a day with that many 3 and 4 year olds! Like throwing a birthday party that lasts a LONG time!

Trust me, some days we LIVE for nap time!!:ggrin:Of course then regular school year starts in August and I get all new ones! It is a little crazy trying to get 15-16 3's that have never been away from home settled down. Plus coming only 2 days a week:shock:In the regular school year this is what I have
Monday--I have 3's and 4's mixed
Tuesday/Thurs I have only 3's
Wed/Fri I have only 4's
The summer I only have the combined for 2 days a week. May have to try the glove thing since it will be close to 90 today! Need to get ready now. Thanks for the tips!
Have a GREAT one!

Judy, you have all my admiration and sympathy! :) I have a three year old and the thought of 15 of herfive days a week is just more than I can imagine. She goes to a Parent's Day Out program during the school year two days a week and the ladies who teach there are just angels (like you). It really takes someone special to teach very young children. Have a great summer with your little ones, they are so precious at this age.
I love the butter idea, mind posting instructions? Thanks!

 Good morning to all y'all. Only it's either barely or NOT morning for most of you.
Reading Judy's posts takes me back to the days when I taught summer Montessori programs, and to the years when my own were those magical ages. Making butter, heck ,my 18 yr. old still does that on special occasions. It was always fun to cooperate with other teachers, mixing it up with the fun ideas.
It was cloudy last night so no good looks at Saturn, Venus, & Mercury. Boo hoo.
Lisa, I love your new(to me) doll.

Hey everyone well seems like everyone thought I was missing yesterday or the past two nights cause I am a night owl . well yep I am so we took the kids fishing last night , and well my son got scared toward the end cause we saw a man up by the road .
I think he was trying to find a quiet place to fish but , my kids thought someone wwas watching us and let their minds run wild so he was ready to go after that .
So he waited it another ten mintues after Italk to him but the lamp we we had with us well one of the lamps burned out . So we packed it up and headed home the way my kids descriped you think it was a friday the 13th movie. lol
He got over his fear quick back to arguing with his brothers . :)

Hey Ladies! I survived farm day! We made our butter, milked a cow (actually the water in the rubber glove thing!), made animal puppets to which we sang Old McDonald, watched a movie about a farm and read a book about farm animals! I think they really enjoyed it.
The recipe for butter is so simple. Heavy cream and put in a jar after sitting out at room temp for an hour. Shake for 25-30 minutes and you have butter! Of course, we stopped and started a few times but we got butter and ate it with some crackers. Every one of them ate it without saying "EWWWHHH, this is yucky!" They would not eat their lunch but they ate this with no complaints?? Go figure?:?
Thanks for your kind words, zonetoncatfan! I dolove my job. I like to think thatone of the reasonsI could have no children of my own was because God needed me here to be with all these other kiddos! So I have the best of both worlds. I get to be with the kids during the day playing and getting hugs while teaching them and then send them home with their parents while enjoy peace and quiet in the evenings.

Well, mine's done for the week. capcat knows I have a good cleaning team, but I clean with them , get dirt up my nose, give them special weekly jobs, generally drive them crazy.
This way I get a better job, and I have no manicure to speak of, even though both of them have fancy nails.
Today , after I re-group, I plan to paint the base of my butcher block table fire engine red.
I'm sorry, I know it's a color much too close to the cardinal. :?

A neighbor friend of mine remodeled her house completely a couple of years ago and it is so colorful, even the exterior. It took awhile to get used to, but I love it. Everything else looks so drab in comparison.

My grandmother kept one framed and hanging in her kitchen. It was called "Keep on Keepin' on" and the first line of itreads "If the daylooks kinder' gloomy...A lady at an antique shop googled it for me yesterday and foundsome leads that I'll follow up on, although I've researched before and come up with nothing. If anyone sees something like that while antiquing, I hope you'll let me know. I've looked for years but haven't been able to find an original print, although I have the words.

I'vve had a fine time in the NC antique stores I've rummaged in, Cali is not bad for antiques. Ky backroads are good, the worst town for antiques that I've been in is Lexington since 1975. Everything is overpriced and not enough variety to suit me.
Aren't we a literary bunch? It's so cool.:D

Hey friends, good morning. :)
I have 2 guys installing screen doors here making the customary noise ofschlepping hammering and drilling. Good thing one of them is my brother -in-law. It's 8:17 am--they're trying to beat the heat.
My son, Max has arrived home from a week of visiting his sister and her fiance in NYC where Max says it was really hot! I'm happy:Dhe's back.
Here, I'm tempted to say the marine layer has returned -blessedly, very foggy in the canyon this morning early ,with sun just beginning to peep through. Temp dropped to 56 during the night, awesome.
Busy day ahead , like y'all, I'm sure.
Judy-Tn. I'm sorry to learn of your husband's bulging disks, torn ACL . Correcting the sleep apnea will surely improve the quality of both of your lives!
Will he have knee surgery also.?
The bulges will hopefully calm down by themselves, if he can tolerate the process of waiting/healing ...at least , that 's what I know about the bulging problem. My husband has been dealing with the bulging disks non-surgically for over 20 yrs.He 's able to be very active for a long time now. Take care of yourself too, Judy.
Missed you yesterday , capcat-Judy.

Capcat--we're replacing screen doors that we installed 10-12 years ago and doors tht aare original to the house .Remember, we have radiant heat and no AC. A combination of dogs and very old screens called for 6 new doors: 3 bedroom, family room, kitchen, and dining room! Now if I can just get the Boxer to believe it when he can't push them open anymore ...:?
The screen door installation is complete. I need to start collecting bids for the house painting job that we've decided MUST precede wedding:DThen of course, we need 3 our of 4 toilets replaced...sweet.

Do you need AC where you live? I would imaginethere are warm days here and there like anywhere, though. My reservations about installing screen doorsare also related to pets. Our dog is a Lab mix and is spoiled enough to want to come inside. She's prettyforceful when she throws her weight into it.
Funny how the years change a person, I would be excited about newbathroom fixtures at this point! We plan to remodel, but it won't even be started before the wedding. Improvements in the meantime will be cosmetic, although much more than that is needed.

ThanksCalsegs. The sleep apnea will be great as he has had back and sleeping problems for years and I finally got through to him to have the sleep thing checked out before back surgery as the first thing a doctor will tell you when you have an injury or sickness is to GET PLENTY OF REST. I am hoping that alot of his back pain will ease up IF he can get a good nights rest every night instead of maybe once a week. The doctor saidtoday heis sending him to a physical therapist for some kind of traction device for the bulging discs. Then only problem I can see is hubby has absolutely NO Patience when it comes to healing. He wants an immediate cure.:shock:He is just supposed to keep his ankle wrapped and propped up when possible but as I said he is stubborn and very impatient about this. If swelling does not go down in a few more days, he will need another mri to see if there is ligament damage.

Good morning ladies.
I am experiencing some relief from worry about one of our 3 cats. Bella came to us an older , not totally healthy cat. She was beautiful , and affectionate ,but deaf and sort of lethargic. After nearly 2 years of a good life , she began to decline , showing all of the signs of kidney disease. Her last several days have been tough. This morning she appears comatose, so her release is near.
Even though , Bella was not my nearest, dearest feline, I am fond of her. I'll miss her Garfield-like flat face. I'm glad she's not suffering any longer.

3) Think about what I need to do for the apartment that I'm renting
4) Start my experiment for other class
5) Write a 15 page paper on that experiement

My night sucked.
I woke up after 4 hrs.sleep feeling too hot(:)guess I should've left the sliding door open after all) , went back to sleep, woke up at 4:30... too cold...put on some (black!) socks , tossed , turned, flipped, flopped, decided to get up and take some ibuprofen, eventually fell back asleep.
Fortunately, husband missed all this drama ,as he was working.
I'm sure my energy will return. Soon I get to drive across the valley to retrieve one of the family vehicles.
The weekend features working more 48 hrs. for my spouse:? and nothing too exciting for me,I'm just grateful the weather has cooled off.
I'll have some kind of fun , wash the dogs, or work on the wedding guest list which I'm instructed to enter in to an Excel spread sheet created for that purpose by my daughter.

Calsegs, do you mind if I ask you how old you are? Because this sounds like what I went through right after my hyster and it was all hormone related/menopause. Just wondering if you may be having some hormone up and downs. Trust me the night sweats are no fun and the sleeplessness. :cry:I used to start drinking a cup of sleepytime tea bedore bed and bought a pillow that is called a Chillow Pillow that keeps you pillow cold. It makes your pillow a little heavy but keeps it cool all night. Saved me many a nights!.

It felt like I could have slept even longer, so I believe you're right. When my older kids wereteenagers and my youngest was a toddler, I was in grad school. I went to Seattle for a convention during that time and slepton and offfor 3 days! The convention center was close by, so I would go to a session, then go back to my room and sleep until the next one and then sleep in the evening and all night, too. Serious sleep deficit back then:).
I'm sorry to hear that you had a restless night...maybe we'llswitchexperiences tonight :).

Good morning ladies!
Yesterday, my younger daughter crashed into the steel -reinforced concrete center divider of northbound Hiway 85, a busy freeway(flow of traffic moves at 70+) that connects the southBay to the eastern mid-Peninsula.
I won't get into the logistical details, the summary is : Zoë , somehow by the grace of God, is okay. My 2001(red!)GMC Sonoma pickup truck is accordionized, I suppose it may be "totalled."
I really liked my little truck, but all I can think /feel today is relief and gratitude that Zoë is physically well...she is still pretty shook up. She has some abrasions from the airbags, and I imagine she'll be sore all over when she wakes up.
I am hoping today will be uneventful...no feline funerals, no auto mishaps, no stricken phone calls from the young Segnitzes out in the world.
A very good day to each of you:)

Calsegs, It's certainly not been a good week for you. But so glad to hear Zoe is okay.So sorry about Bella and your truck.:( I remember when my Mom's house burned to the ground...she called me one night practicallyhysterical, yelling"If one more person tells me I am lucky because I'm okay, I am gonna scream!" She was certainly grateful and thankful that no one was hurt in the fire. and she was okay. But at that point she was overwhelmed at EVERYTHING that needed to be done, from buying underwear, clothes, basic household items, finding a place to live, dealing with the insurance company, etc., etc., etc. I've always remembered this and when a disaster strikes someone close I havetried my darndest tonot say "You are lucky since...".

Good morning. Catfever, there was an interesting (perhaps reassuring ;)) article in the news yesterdayabout the ability of men to hear women's voices...didyou happen tosee it? Women's voices have a musical quality that is more complex to listen to and therefore more difficult, at least for a man. It didn't sayif the same is true for women.

No I did not see that but I think his problem is more along the lines of being HARDHEADED!:DFunny I can tell him something that he needed to do while in the hospital and he bites my head off. Good morning ladies.
Fourth child,Max, is safely installed in his freshman dorm, at his new school --University of California at Berkeley. I was a bit sad walking away, but I'm reminding myself, we can feel a sense of accomplishment here , if we can just relax the lump in the throat!:)
Second child and his LA -based band played a couple of Bay area shows ths weekend, offwhich I was able to catch last night's They've made a progress.
Division Day loaded up their gear after midnight and took off down the highway , a 5 hour drive through the night to SoCAL with work waiting for them this morning.
This all night driving practice causes a mother anxiety; nothing like the basket case she'd be if son were stationed overseas. It's not even a fair comparison, I realize. Apologies to those of you who have more serious conerns with your offspring.
It' s Monday, housecleaning day , I think I'll go eliminate a sizeable percentage of younger son's room debris, while he's not here to defend his "turf!"

Calsegs I think the anxieties that come with parenting are never going to go away no matter how old they are. Just when I think I have everyone settled, and taken care of something else comes up...lol....when my oldest was away at school...I decided no news was good news lol....for the moment my oldest seems happy, healthy and very contentwith all in herlife...and as a mother it brings a tremendous sense of peace.
My youngest on the other hand ....is getting ready to move 4 hours awayto a big city not knowing anyone and will be in a one bedroom apartment on her own for the first time. With it comes major anxieties as a parent. I get the oh MOM chill and quit being so psycho I will be fine!!!! On top of she decided this morning she was NOT going to her doc appointment for a colscopy(sp) and will go later ...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr you can not force a 19 year old to dosomething they have decided no way they are going to do and you can only talk so much ....so Im praying we can get through to her the importance of going.
Good luck with the room lol....be brave and throw throw throw lol ;)
