Per CatsPause:
Derrick Locke, Hugo, OK has enrolled in summer school at UK.
5' 10" 175 Will play football and track at UK.
Oklahoma State Champion in long jump at 25' 4 3/4", which is a NATIONAL record. He also ran a 10.6 in the 100 meters.
Football stats are EYE POPPING...
3,250 yards rushing, 51 TD's. In 7 of the 13 games he didn't even play in the 4th quarter.
UK was the only school to say he could play offense (RB) in football and run track. Other schools wanted to move him to other positions

This kid sounds like a pure athlete...can't wait to watch him in action. Any ideas as to what other schools offered him (the ones that wanted him to play other positions)?

Derrick Locke is a heavy favorite in the Long Jump; his 25' 5" leap leads the nation. Only Highland's
Gilbert Guzman has much of a shot at scoring for New Mexico.

Oklahoma was set back this week when Mustang wideout Josh Cooper and Hugo tailback Derrick Locke dropped out of the game.
Cooper, who signed with Oklahoma State after catching 81 passes last season, has a hamstring injury. Locke, who rushed for 3,275 yards and 51 touchdowns in 2006, is reportedly attending summer school at the University of Kentucky. Hugo head coach Tommy Bare is Oklahoma's offensive coordinator.
Oklahoma's quarterbacks are Okeene's Brady Wardlaw and Mustang's Brock Feldmann. Kerry Roberts, who resigned recently as Eufaula's head coach, will lead Oklahoma. Collinsville's Bob Craig is the defensive coordinator.

HUGO TAILBACK AND TRACK STANDOUT DERRICK LOCKE IS ON THE MOVE AGAIN. THE SENIOR WENT TO KENTUCKY THIS WEEKEND TO VISIT THE CAMPUS AFTER RECEIVING A SCHOLARSHIP TO PLAY FOOTBALL AND RUN TRACK. AFTER RETURNING HOME OVER THE WEEKEND, LOCKE SIGNED HIS NATIONAL LETTER YESTERDAY AND WILL ATTEND KENTUCKY NEXT SEASON. HE HAD ORIGINALLY SIGNED WITH NEO ON NATIONAL SIGNING DAY, BUT KNOW HE'LL HEAD TO THE KENTUCKY INSTEAD. HE RECENTLY FINISHED HIS HIGH SCHOOL CAREER, BY WINNING THE STATE LONG JUMP CHAMPIONSHIP AND BREAKING HIS OWN STATE RECORD IN THE PROCESS.

From signing day news:
State Semi-finalist Hugo rounds out this year's Signing Day class. Running Back, Derrick Locke turned down an offer from at least one D-I school and opted for NEO Jr. College

I like that he won the 100 meters at the 4A state championship even better than him winning the long jump. The young man is very well developed physically.

Wonder how this affects bringing in Omar Brown for 2007. 11 interceptions and 25 pass breakups, are you kidding me? We need Brown.

"Purcell, OK -- Purcell will need to muster all the defensive skills available this Saturday night when Derrick Locke and the thundering herd of Hugo Buffaloes rumble into town for the second round of the State Class 3A playoffs.
Locke, a senior running back, has 3,000 yards rushing this season and 50 touchdowns for the 9-2 Buffaloes.
“He’s an incredible football player,” Purcell head coach Mike Wilson says matter of factly."

Thanks, guys. Too, I'm anxious to see how Mr. Locke performs as a Cat. He certainly has some impressive numbers.
Welcome, Mr. Locke. :)
