Reeves doesn't have a scholly offer from KY just yet but Michael Porter has been on him, urging him to keep UK in his thoughts. Secondly, Nelson has been following UK baskeball because of the ties to Porter and Chuck Hayes who both came from Modesto. He is a 5-star recruit for '09 class according to rivals.com.

Biography:
FR:Outstanding young wing prospect with very high skill level and great feel for the game. Excellet leaper and a great rebounder. Can play inside and out. Nice stroke to the three-point line. Very good ball skills for a young wing. Terrific passer, with very good vision. Potentially an elite prospect.

SO:Nelson has added weight and strength since his freshman year. He now projects most likely as a power forward, although there is still a chance he ends up at small forward. An elite prospect nationally.

He looks good, on rivals they have a video of him. He would be a great addition to the 09 class.

No, it is an outdated profile from scout.com. They will update sometime this summer hopefully. Reeves is definitely a 4+ recruit right now.

I would rather have him than D. Cousins, he seems more mobile and could do more things, if needed...

Another Modesto star has UK interest

By Jeff Drummond, CatsPause.com Publisher – Rivals.com

In a stunning development, there is actually a top-rated basketball prospect who has not been receiving heavy interest from Billy Gillispie and his tireless Kentucky staff.

But thanks to some "family ties" of sorts, that could soon change.

Reeves Nelson is a five-star forward in the Class of 2009, and he plays for the Modesto (Calif.) Christian program that produced former UK standout Chuck Hayes and current Wildcat guard Michael Porter. Porter's father, Gary, is also the head coach at MCS, so the Crusaders are members of the Wildcats' extended family....

Jul. 9 Gillispie continues pursuit of Nelson
Class of 2009 forward Reeves Nelson continues to be pursued by Kentucky and its new head coach Billy Gillispie after former coach Tubby Smith started the process. Nelson said he recently spoke with Gillispie on the phone when the coach tried to sell him on two other Modesto Christian players who played for the Wildcats, Chuck Hayes and Michael Porter.
"He (Gillispie) said he was going to get me to Kentucky because Michael Porter's there," Nelson told the Lexington Herald-Leader. "It's cool that they both went there, but I don't think that'll be a factor. I'm going to decide the school for myself and not on what others have done before that." He is also considering North Carolina, Duke, UCLA and Arizona.
