I don't send out that many PM's but when I do I like to make a post /thread alerting the recipient that I've sent them one. Here lately, I've noticed that when I do that, the post is deleted not long after.

Is there a reason for this? All I'm doing is saying "Hey, so and so, check your PM's". Is there a problem I'm not aware of?

The only reason I do so is because some of the posters here would never read them if they weren't told they had a PM.

There is an option available to every member to be notified by pop-up when they have a PM. Starting a thread every time you send a PM takes up limited thread space in the forums and pushes threads farther down. If multiple people started doing the same the forums would be full of threads that are relevant to only one member.

Just as the "I know this doesn't belong in this forum, but this one gets the most traffic" threads do, it takes up thread space that members have to bypass to get to the subject they may have limited time for.

After seeing your recipient was reading your PM the thread was deleted. Makes no sense to stay up after the message is received. Thanks for understanding.

OKay, that makes sense. I was aware of the notification option, I use it myself, but I have no way of knowing who uses it and who doesn't. But I can understand not taking up un-necessary space. I'll keep it in mind.
