Count on the UK coaching staff being more selective in the recruiting process this summer. Last fall, the Wildcats racked up a bunch of early commitments and had most of its class filled long before national signing day in February.

UK only has two reported commitments to date, Athens (Ga.) offensive linemen Trevino Woods and Chester (S.C.) wide receiver Eugene McCaskill. However, neither Woods nor his high school coach, Leroy Ryals, has publicly commented on his commitment since it was initially reported by Scout.com last month.

Brooks said not to expect the commitments to be rolling in at the rapid pace they were last fall. UK is expected to have only 22 available scholarships for its 2008 class.

"We are recruiting, in a lot of cases, some more high-profile athletes than we were a year ago," Brooks said. "And we won't have the number of scholarships that we had a year ago."

UK recently made three scholarship offers to in-state players: Trinity offensive lineman Sam Robey, Bowling Green tight end Ryan Wallace and St. Xavier defensive lineman Matt Smith.
