Pete Mackanin will be interim manager.

Only Cal Ripken Jr(17) and Rod Carew(15) have been voted to start more All Star games than Ken Griffey Jr(13). Congrats Junior!!

Looking over the starting lineups.....WHAT WERE THE FANS THINKING???

IMO the fans were thinking what ESPN wanted them to think.

As for Narron,it's about time.I'm sure he's a good guy but that team just doesn't have a clue about fundamentals. They actually have a decent every day lineup and the sp hasn't been that bad.The problem is they do the little things so poorly that it really hurts them in close games.Oh that and the bullpen is bad and used wrong.

I hope they can play well enough from here out to avoid a:100 losses and b:the worst record in baseball.

Now, all the Reds have to do is trade Adam Dunn for a couple of draft picks and a relief pitcher. That will free up some big time salary and get rid of a George Foster clone ( my job is to hit home runs, not run after fly balls ).

FOX wanted Barry in so they got him in. No big deal it's only an exhibition game. Narron getting fired was no surpirise. I don't know if it helps any or not. The Reds organization is a big mess to clean up that will take a long time. The minor league sytem was barren for years. It now has good prospects in the pipeline but it's going to take a while to get it fully running again. I hope they hire a Lou Pinella type who will light fire under the behinds and make them at least play with some passion. They just seemed lifeless most of the time under Narron.

You can't trade draft picks in MLB. If they trade Dunn they had better get another run producer. Except for a fragile Griffey you wouldn't have much pop in that lineup. I'm not a big Dunn fan but he does produce over 40 homers and about 100 RBI's a season. It would be nice to have another one just like him that lineup to compliment him and take off the pressure.

If they trade Dunn, they have to get relief pitching in return. Sure, Dunn hits a ton of homers but his OBP sucks, he strikes out close to 200 times a year, and he is a liability in the field. Give me someone who gets on base consistently and can play defense.

Bring in Joe Girardi as manager with Tom Browning as the pitching coach.

His OBP is .355 which will probably get a little higher and end up between .365-.370,his career average, which is not that bad.He will hit 40+Hrs and around 100 RBI's,you can't replace that with relief pitching.

BTW who had the second most strikeouts in 2006,only 13 less than Adam Dunn?

That would be your 2006 MVP Ryan Howard. He turns about 30 outs into hits and he would have MVP numbers.Thats something in very short supply in the 'Nati. Not saying he will ever get there but if a light suddenly clicks on for him I want it to click on in a Reds uni.
