...Now, Cobb should be reunited with his good friend Lanxter next year at Kentucky. The BlueCross Bowl Offensive MVP, Lanxter signed with the Wildcats in February and already is on campus.
“Me and him are like brothers,” Cobb said of his bond with Lanxter. “He can help me, and I can count on him to be there for me.”
Cobb had gotten plenty of interest from Mississippi and Vanderbilt and an offer from MTSU, but Lanxter vowed on signing day to bring his southpaw quarterback with him to Lexington.
“I didn’t even think about it till Kyrus called me after I committed,” the 5-foot-11, 180-pounder said. “I guess he just read my mind and knew what I was going to do.”
Cobb received the Wildcats’ offer in mid-June after attending their camp. He sat down with Randy Sanders, the former UT quarterback and offensive coordinator entering his second season at UK, and appreciated his straightforward approach.
“He’s just a good guy, somebody to look up to,” Cobb said of Sanders, who was instrumental in Lanxter’s recruitment. “He tells you the truth and not just things you want to hear. He told me I might get redshirted my freshman year, but that we’ll just have to see how everything works out. He said he believes in his heart in a couple of years I can be a big part of Kentucky football.”
