Getting the urge for spring football? Curious about the incoming freshmen? Have we got a deal for you!
Your Quarterback Club is hosting a special meeting on Saturday, March 4 at 2:00 pm at the K House. Steve Hellyer, Director of Football Operations, has graciously consented to meet with us to show high school film clips and discuss the players who recently signed Letters-of-Intent for the coming year. You'll get to see and talk about Micah Johnson, Josh Minton, and all the others you've only read about. This is a one-time event you won't want to miss.
We will have soft drinks and bottled water until they run out. There is no admission charge, but we would request you make a donation at the door to help defray the cost of renting the K House and the refreshments. Your continued support is most appreciated.
Information about how you can join the Kentucky Quarterback Club will be available at the meeting.
Come on out and bring your friends! See you on March 4, and Go Cats!!!

This sounds like one fun event jwade and I am certainly planning on being there. I have a couple of questions for u. 1. Anyone can come right? 2. I am a sophomore at UK majoring in sports management/marketing and I am looking to get my foot in the door here in Lexington so I was wondering if you knew of any way I can help/volunteer with the QB club? I appreciate your help!

1. Yes, anyone can come. We'rehoping toget some exposure, attract some new members, and grow the club. I've developed a brochurethat explains more about us and will have them at the meeting.
2.Always looking for volunteers! We're a non-profit, charitable organization that relies solely on volunteers to do the work. I recently formed two committees, Fundraising andMembership. Fundraisinghad their first meeting this past Sunday and probably won't meet again for awhile, but with your major that might be a logical place to plug in. I'll add you to that mailing list if you wish. We're planning to have a table at the spring game with brochures and membership forms, again trying to attract new members. If you'd help man the table up until game time, that would be appreciated.

The K-men's house is beside the Nutter Field House. You can park in the green lot which is across the street.

Events like this build a program. When fans show interest in football during the month of March, the program benefits. Way to go Kentucky Quarterback Club.
I wish I was close enough to attend. I have alot of respect for what Coach Brooks is doing at Kentucky. His critics may be eating crow in the very near future.

why not have somrthing for the people who live out of town coming in for the florida game realize that little late for this year but some people who would love to attend do not live in town ! sorry not meant to complain!seems like that you could get a lot of new members if you had a table out side rupp or next door so you could meet new members

Would love to do more but at this point in our existence, we havefew funds to work with and I end up doing most of the leg work. I've formed a Fundraising Committee to look for ways to increase revenues and a Membership Committee to help take some of the burden off me. If we can get more people involved, financially andvia sweat equity, we will be able to do a lot more.
We're planning to have a table with brochures set upat Commonwealth for the Blue White game if UK will permit us to do so. Hope everyone who's in town for the game will stop by.

It was nice meeting you today Jim and i feel today's meeting was very interesting, fun, and enjoyable. I felt that Mr. Hellyer was a great asset today as he was able to give great insight into every single recruit. I love what the Quarterback Club is doing for the football program and I look forward to helping the organization!

Thanks, hoosierhater, I enjoyed meeting you and amglad you had a good time. Steve wasn't in his best voice today, but he went above and beyond the call of duty I thought. I plan to call him on Monday and thank him for taking the time to spend aSaturday afternoonwith us. I've gotten to know him over the past 3 years and he's a great guy.
As a matter of fact, every coach I've met on this staff has been just real down-to-earth. At our second meeting last year Joker and Archer came by, sat down, ate dinner with us and chatted for 30 minutes or so before we even got into the night's program. I will say this right now: Joker Phillips is the best ambassador for Kentucky football I have ever been around. Period. Anyone else is a distant second.
Please keep spreading the word, we need to grow our membership and this is a great start. You will be hearing from me real soon.

Had hoped to include a brochure with the season ticket renewal forms, but they went out a lot earlier this year so I missed out on that opportunity. Will be talking with media relations this week to see if they will include our brochure when they send out media guides.

I want to join this organization. Where do I send my dues?
jwade

Florida Cracker:
Our Membership Committee is reviewing the dues structure for the coming year. Their ultimate recommendation will be voted on by the Board of Directors later in the spring. So, I don't know what the dues will be for the coming season. Last year they were $35 Single, $50 Family and $100 Corporate. We typically send out membership notices in June or July. If you will send me your e-mail address, I'll add you to our mailing list and make certain you receive a notice. If you'd rather send me your USPS address instead that's OK, too. Whichever you prefer. Our e-mail address is:
kyqbclub@bellsouth.net (mailto:kyqbclub@bellsouth.net)
Thanks for your interest.

I'm curious, why did you pick the name QB Club versus some other position name like CB or P? Thanks.

No particular reason.

More than likely it's the most common name used for any football booster club.
BTW - had a great time. Looking forward to the next get together.

even that not member would be happy to help you in any way with ideas on how to grow the club just have much more time then money at this point seems like it mainly for local folks but seems like you could have one event for out of towner once a year ! then you could have two type of memberships one for people who actually come other for people who just want to say they belong !and want to support the cause !!!!

Somehow "Middle Guard Club" doesn't have the same cachet ... ;)
Wish I could have been there. Any news of note?

Jim, you will never find a guy more willing to go above and beyond the call than Jordan (hoosierhater). He would be a great Ambassador for your Club and do everything in the world to promote it. He is as hard working and loyal as anyone I have ever had the pleasure to know. We are all very fond of Jordan at WCN, he is very poular at our tailgate parties.
I also encourageeveryone to join this Club, Jim and company do a great job every year. Mel was very fond of Jim and the Kentucky Quarterback Club, the meetings are top notch and are not to be missed, great info and fellowship. I remember Mel talking for days after attending the meetings and always got pumped up for football. Thank you, Jim.

Thanks, Rick. I'm getting ready to plug Jordan into one ofour committees. We don't reallyhave anyone in the club to provide a student's point of view and I'm looking forward to hearing how we can make our group more attractive to his demographic.
Agreed about Mel, he was a great guy. The consummate idea guy. I loved meeting him at Hooters for beer and wings and listening to his latest schemes. He was always thinking two jumps ahead.
When we get into the season, and if no one objects, I will submit posts reminding of upcoming meetings. Then, if someone who hasn't joined the club just happens to be in Lexington on meeting day, maybe they will stop by and check us out.

Jim,
You have done an excellent job promoting the QB Club. Hunter isstill angrythat I had never shared with him the existance of this organization, so thanks for that. I suppose we're in, since he's been writing down questions for the coaches all week.
Two questions: Is Hunter (13 years old) restricted in any way from attending functions with me?
What is the dress at these functions? Do weneed to wear slacks, or will jeans andour favorite UK sweatshirts do?
I suppose I'll get the brochure with my season tickets, but please put me on the listserv.
Thank you for your effort in promoting UK football.

Al,
First, welcome. This is a greatmessage board with knowledgable, passionate fans who (generally) manage to keep the discussions civil and avoid acrimony and name-calling.
I've added you to the e-mail distribution list and look forward to seeing you and Hunter at future events. There's no reason at all why he should't attend and I think he'll enjoy it. Dress however you wish, jeans and sweatshirts are fine.
