Marshall's 2007 football recruiting class has a late addition. Safety Omar Brown of Berkeley high School in Moncks Corner, S.C., has given the Herd a commitment, the Rivals.com Web site reported Wednesday.
Brown, a 5-foot-11, 180-pounder, told Rivals.com that he was a late qualifier who was OK'd by the NCAA Clearinghouse on Monday and accepted at Marshall on Tuesday. He also had offers from Kentucky, Hawaii, Western Kentucky and several Division I-AA programs.
Brown had 100 tackles and 11 interceptions for the Stags last season. He was an All-State first team pick in South Carolina. He was the All-Lowcountry defensive player of the year selection.
Brown expects to play free safety at Marshall. He reports Aug. 1, with the Herd opening preseason workouts Aug. 2.
