Rose Waiting for Offers
By Matt Long
ATH Marcel Rose (5-10 180) has attracted the attention of several Division 1 college football programs and the CB/RB was active in the spring, attending a camp at Notre Dame and Junior Days at USC. However, the attention has not yet translated into offers for Rose. "I think Kansas and the (Notre Dame) Irish might offer me soon, but I don't know." He has also gotten calls from OL Coach John Hunt of South Carolina and Clemson, South Florida, and Kentucky have also shown interest. However, all are waiting to see how he performs this fall. "He's a three-year starter," said his head coach, Bruce James, "But his problem was that we had him platooning between tailback and defensive back. He's a good cover corner, but there are a lot of cornerbacks in Florida, so schools are reluctant to offer a guy who only played there part of the season." Rose, who had 3 interceptions and 45 tackles last season, will stay at the cornerback position this fall. He is hoping that consistent play will earn a scholarship offer before too long.
