Receiver has put UK past behind

Lonnell Dewalt refuses to be stuck in 2004, although no one could blame him if he were.

Back then Dewalt was a promising freshman on the University of Kentucky football team. Dewalt, who led Warren Central High to the state basketball championship, flirted with playing hoops for the Wildcats.

He could have been a senior at UK this fall.

"I think about that all the time," he said. "I've still got posters and everything from when I was there that I look at every night. But I can't stay looking back at the past. You can't live in the past. That's like saying I wish I was back in high school because it was easy and nobody could hold me."

Dewalt is discovering that no one in arenafootball2 can hold him, either. In his first season with the Louisville Fire, he has 24 catches and nine touchdowns in just nine games.

wow time flies, I didnt even realize he was playing arena ball and wouldve been a senior...

The good news is he seems to be growing up & having things work out for him. In the end, can't ask for much more for anyone. Great news.

I went to a Fire game this year just hoping to see him in action. It was one of their first 5 or 6 games so he didn't play I guess he didn't have the offense down yet.

I wish him well he was a great talent and will wind up making a lot of money in the AFL or CFL.
