I’m happy to see everyone jumping on the UK Wildcat and Rick Brooks’ bandwagon after last year’s 8-5 success.

Last year, everyone was ready for Brooks to get fired, but now, after beating a much overrated Clemson team in the Music City Bowl, everyone believes he’s the savior of the Wildcat football team.

I’m still not sure about Brooks. I want to see what Kentucky will do this season.

If Kentucky can post an 8-5 record with this year’s schedule then I’ll be a believer, but I look for something more like a 5-7 mark instead.

It's a reasonable place to be as that could happen.

Most of those jerks wouldn't jump on Brooks' bandwagon if the draft horse was being ridden by Lady Godiva.

UK will easliy win the first two, if we get that 3rd win against UofL and go 3-0, everyone will be on board- which they should be anyway.

We have 6 All-SEC players (tied for 2nd), why shouldn't we be excited? I'll take a 6-6 or 7-5 this year and be tickled pink, with the brutal schedule. Getting to two bowls in a row shouldn't leave anyone dissapointed.

A caller on Drew Deener's show on 590 made a good point about everyone playing up our brutal schedule. The point was that the level of brutality was the same last year and will be the same next year, as long as we're still in the SEC east.

True, as far as the teams we play in the league, but the teams we play at home this year are much tougher and the teams we play on the road make those games harder than last year.

It is the transitioning of SEC West teams which makes our schedule tougher this year. When you trade Arkansas for Ole Miss, I would say that in itself qualifies as a tougher schedule.

Every time I look at our schedule I wonder if we shouldn't join the Big 10 + 1 ...

We're a legit .500 team every year in the Big 10 with many years where we can do much better.

Would the money be less in the Big 10?

The more I think about this subject the more I realize how wrong the SEC is to be split East and West. Seeing the Big 10 split that way shows how it's screwed up. The East was settled sooner and with more people.

Yeah, but last year we had the fortune of playing a bad Ole Miss team at home, this year we swap that for Arkansas on the road (Ark played for the SEC title and has 2 first-team RB's coming back). Also, we go to Vandy instead of here, to South Carolina instead of here. Vandy and USC are key games and they are on the road. UT, UF, LSU are games we are going to be dogs in no matter where we play. Don't forget that our big win against UGA last year was here- no such luck this year as we venture off to Athens.

We will not go to a conference and be at the bottom of all time titles in basketball right off the bat (Big 10). We'll stay in the SEC where we are kings in bball and a school the size of UK isn't going to split in major conferences- not a chance!!

I don't think UK will ever leave the SEC, but if we did I don't think the number of conference titles we've won in the past would even cross the mind of the administrators making that decision.

I agree. Also, if we go anywhere it would be to the ACC. Much more prestige in BB and we would fit in nicely in the middle for football. The Big Ten is slow, methodical BB & FB. They are not a sexy league and I see no advantage at all in going there.
