Baseball Trades........

The Rangers have agreed to trade first baseman Mark Teixeira and pitcher Ron Mahay to the Atlanta Braves for catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Minor League pitcher Neftali Feliz and infielder Elvis Andrus and a player to be named later. The deal is pending medical reviews.

Righthander Kyle Lohse was acquired by the Phillies from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for minor league lefthander Matt Maloney.

Lohse for a AA pitcher sounds like....well.....it sounds like a move made just for the sake of making a move.

The Lohse trade was a good trade. He is a free agent after this season and the Reds got a decent prospect for him. Lohse was terribly inconsistent and I didn't really want the Reds to waste their money trying to sign him for next season.

I've been a die hard Phillie fan for many years and I was hoping for an addition of someone like starter Matt Morris or closer Eric Gagne.

Anyhoo, I think the Teixeira deal will be real good for the Braves, that NL East race should be fun to watch towards the end of the year.

I'm glad that the Braves were able to pick up Teixeira, he will definitely help out the ballclub. But what the team desperately needed was another strong starting pitcher. It's Smoltz and Hudson, and that's about it.

I need to look at Texiara's numbers this year, I know he's been hurt but I thought his production has been down from last year...not sure but I guess this is good for the Braves...

I don't know about the Lohse deal, the pither they go isn't necessarily tearing it up in the minors...they say Loehse has good stuff just needs to be consistant but who knows, shouldn't be a huge gain/loss either way...they should have dumped Dunn or Griffey and made a run at Cabrerra in the off season...13 million would get him....

The Braves released Julio Franco the other day after getting Tex. He was with the team for two weeks. It makes sense, but it sucks because Julio is cool.

Tex homered last night and got a standing ovation. It was a nice shot. If that's any indication, he was a great pickup. Can't wait to see what else he can do.
