EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Few reserve quarterbacks in the NFL have as many nicknames as Jared Lorenzen.

At 6-4 and 285 pounds, the quarterback is often referred to as the “Hefty Lefty,” but he is now getting noticed for something else – his talent. Though training camp is only four days old, the third-year pro has been very impressive and has been electrifying the Albany crowds.

“So far I am having my best camp yet," Lorenzen, Eli Manning’s 26-year-old backup, said today. “I understand a lot more this year. I might not be throwing as well as I did, but I understand the offense a lot more and I now verbalize a lot more with other players and during meetings.” ...

If Anthony Wright beats out Hasselbeck for the third string spot, the Giants will have three SEC QBs on their roster this fall. I remember Wright at South Carolina. He may well give Jared a battle for that second string spot.

Keep at it Jared!

" Lorenzen was a four-year starter and set six NCAA records, four SEC records and 11 school records, including those for passing yards (10,354), completions (862) and touchdown passes (78)."

How can you have 6 NCAA records but only 4 SEC records?

I'm guessing maybe the SEC record book doesn't include as many different statistical categories as the NCAA record book. For example, maybe the SEC doesn't recognize third-down passing percentage - but the NCAA does.

That said, it could be a simple mistake by the writer also.

Isnt the NCAA like a mid-major to the SEC? :icon_mrgreen:

Perhaps it means 4 SEC records in addition to the NCAA records.

I assume one NCAA record is most games played at QB at over 300 lb.
