I don't like the $70 individual tag attached to the ul game because I think it emphasizes (elevates) the ul game too much. I dont mind the ticket prices going up overall and if you're a season ticket holder the tix went up very little but here's what I would rather see.

All SEC games go to $40-42 and the remaining games stay in the $30 range with the ul game somewhere in between. The revenue would be about the same.

My comment is that I would LOVE for our Cats to beat the Cards this year in that game with the expensive ticket. Yes, I admit that the "icing on the cake" would be that Bozich could not write a column about how our changing the game to the third game did not help a bit, how UK fans did not get their money's worth, etc. I think you get my drift.

By the way, I'm still waiting for a column from Bozich in regard to HOW WRONG he was in saying Coach Brooks must be fired (expressed column after column) AND in showing a lack of respect for Andre Woodson as a quarterback. I'm also still waiting for the column giving national champion Florida respect and admitting that the SEC was the toughest conference, rather than an overrated one, something I read from him year after year. I'm still waiting for many of these columns, but I'm at least not dumb enough to hold my breath while waiting. :icon_lol: GO CATS! GO RICH!

I think it's supply & demand. If the game still sells out, UK didn't charge enough.
It's a lot easier to drive a 100 miles than the 300+ most opponents do. And it's not often the LV fans get to watch their team play on a Saturday.

In his column yesterday, Rick Bozich at least said the following about Coach Brooks: "He's been jabbed by folks like me for nearly every snap of his four seaons at UK." Bozich goes on to admit that Brooks has "survived."

It's more of an apology than I would have expected, and I give Bozich credit for doing so. Also, Bozich ends the mostly positive column with the comment that the UK football team "looks like a team to enjoy." I think we WILL ENJOY this team, AND I hope the enjoyment includes a victory over the Cards, of course. :icon_biggrin: GO CATS! GO RICH!

I think the reason that the U of L game tickets are so expensive is simply because they're the road team that will bring the most fans. Remember, season ticket holders actually get a discount this year instead of paying face value for tickets to every game. So instead of raising ticket prices across the board, they raised the prices for this one game in which the visiting team will bring a large number of fans. Basically, they're increasing revenue and making the Louisville fans pay for a significant portion of it.

If UK fans can't afford season tickets but still want to come to a game or two, there are 7 other home games, 3 of which will be against top 10-15 teams (Florida, LSU, Tennessee), and these tickets cost less than $30 a game.

FWIW, Doug, I had had exactly the same thought, and I like the athletic administration's thinking in that regard (if that is the case). Let Louisville fans help us financially, while season ticket holders get a discount on their season tickets. :icon_biggrin: GO CATS! GO BILLY G!
