Last summer, we bought a home built in 1954 following the death of its original owner, Grace. Her husband had preceded her in death in 1984. One of the things that attracted me to this home was its pristine midcentury decor. As it turns out, the home needed a lot of work, so we did a full remodel, although keeping the original configuration/layout. I bought several of the accessories and artwork that were put up for auction to benefit a local charity. I had light fixtures replated and rewired, because I knew I would never find anything I liked so much in this day and time. When I bought new furniture, I bought it with that time period in mind. I love the era, and felt like the home had a history worth honoring...corny, but that's the way I am.
Now for the romantic part...Friday, I found a note in my mailbox that I thought was worth sharing:
Peace be with you.
Please accept my apologies if I am intruding, I needed to stand on your front porch for a moment.
A beautiful love story was long lived in your home, today is their anniversary.
A friend of the couple, Tom and Grace.
